Crunchy Jamz (the non-Phish/Dead/UM Thread)
There are plenty of great jam bands out there and I think some of those suggestions or discussions might get lost or not well noticed the General Music thread.
I've been heavily into Goose for the last 2 years since a good friend of mine invited me to a Pigeons Playing Ping Pong show (who's another great band, btw) and Goose opened. They were so lowkey but their sound is so fucking tight yet free at the same time. Just watched their 12/11/20 show on the Rockerfeller Center roof:

Obsessed with Goose. That Goosemas show has been in heavy rotation since it happened, especially the new(er) songs (Elmeg, Seekers, Empress). I was supposed to see them on 3/14...the world shut down on 3/12. And then their summer appearance at a beer festival was cancelled. Still itching to see them live, but watched all of Bingo Tour and had a private 1 on 1 zoom with Peter and one with Rick in the spring.
The Madhuvan from this show is possibly my favorite jam Goose has ever done: starts at 41:25 |

I'm sitting in a dark room, laptop in front of me, sipping on some scotch and damn....this is nice. As my high school drumline instructor would say, "Lock it in the pocket."
I've been searching for new music and was having a hard time landing on something. Thanks for the rec! ![]() And man do I fucking miss live music.... |

The stick control the drummer has around the 1 hour and 11 mark is unbelievable for a drummer in a band. His hands were in "match" position using mostly wrist, very controlled that way...seems like he was taught the technique early on in his life because most "rock/jam band" drummers don't hold sticks that way.

Someone made an aGoostic compilation of their acoustic stuff and it is unreal. I’ve been listening to it a lot over the last couple of months.

This is considered one of their best shows and it's coming out on vinyl (most of it - it's more of a compilation from this show)

Vampire Weekend + Goose just released a track 2021 (January 5th, to be exact): [Only registered users can see links.] edit: Guess they took it down last night, it wasn't supposed to be up yet, but it was good! Last edited by Garntd; 02-01-2021 at 01:39 PM. |

MMW is another phenomenal act that has lost love on the boards over the years. Back in the bridge days, we all used to rock these dudes. Saw them live only twice but god damn they're infectious in a live setting. Notes From The Underground is still such an insanely great record too. Shit all their albums are amazing, even the stuff they did with John Scofield is killer.

Lotus
Motet (the lead singer, Lyle Divinsky, just left the band but they had been on fire with him at the helm the last 4-5 years. I'll be interested to see where they go from here) Lettuce Billy Strings Pigeons Playing Ping Pong All some of my favorite that are definitely in the scene.
