Stock Market

Not sure how many of you are in the markets but figured there should be a thread for it (should have been months ago probably, crazy year for trading).

What's your sentiment with the major indexes at or near all time highs right now with the vaccines still many months away from widespread rollout and potential winter lockdowns?

I've got some big short hedges on recently inflated bounce-back stocks (travel, restaurants), and SPY puts, but portfolio is still mostly long with lot of tech. I think this vaccine hype is gonna wind down and we'll see a big pullback early next year when we realize life hasn't gotten back to normal.

I also think AMZN should have the highest market cap of any company right now. Super bullish on it, and I think consumer behavior has changed permanently to favor e-commerce even once Covid is gone. Personally I've been ordering almost all my groceries through Amazon/whole foods and I don't think I'm ever going back to the store to haul all my seltzers.

I really want I get into the market (beyond a 401k) and have a little money to work with. Any ideas on best places I can start to read into this more? I know this wasn’t the point of your thread but it’s something I want to get more involved with looking to 2021

Good thread. Wonder if we have any wealth advisors on TDC?

I'm long on pharmaceuticals and BofA (disclaimer, my employer)

Almost back to pre-covid levels.

Download Robinhood app and deposit $100, put it in a stock you feel good about in the next 1-3 years. That's a start.

Or you could go to [Only registered users can see links.] and start learning how to YOLO.

We’re in a situation with leverage, derivatives, etc. where our economic system will collapse if stocks go down. Any major drawdown will be met with massive money printing to bring it back up. I guess that makes me a bull

I was one of the fools telling DFV on wsb months ago that he was retarded for holding his GME position. Now he has 50mm+ on a 50k bet. Insane.

There's a ton of articles out there, just read a few of them and try to piece it together. Essentially a group on Reddit (WallStBets), a group that has 3-4 million members collectively decided to pour tons of their own individual capital into Gamestop stock. (as well as AMC, Nokia etc) Most Wall St exec, CEO's and big players in the market were gambling that GameStop and those others are terrible companies that are going to go bankrupt and out of business soon (they're probably right)...so tons of them were Shorting the stock and buying put options on it. By artificially raising the stock, those investors had to sell their positions and dump a crapload of their capital into the stock in order to cover their losses, thereby raising the price of the stock even more. In effect the stock rose a shitload and lots of people made money if they got out yesterday.

However, today, Robinhood, TD and tons of other brokerage firms temrporarily disabled Gamestop, Nokia, AMC, Blackberry as those were all the stocks targeted by the Reddit group. You were not allowed to buy any more shares of those all day today. So in that time, the big billionaires got together and purposely tanked the stock so everyone who held through the day lost most of the gains if not all. It was total and complete 100% manipulation of the market by the elite, and it's kind of scary knowing that they can do that at a given notice to any equity. it makes me nervous to keep my money in it to be honest.

I got shut out of BB and AMC from Robinhood this morning, which sucked, but just bought $100 of Dogecoin just for kicks. It's dirt cheap and it's risen ~500% just today
