Yea, that Crazy Easy from '13 on the Summer Tour Warm up is phenomenal.

It's amazing. That video is like the first time in a LONG time that the band actually sounds like DMB to me. It's really nice, wish they would play more like that all the time..Tim being tasteful and letting Jeff just kind of go on his own throughout. And very limited trumpet

7/30/01 (Seek Up) Central Park Concert Live Trax Vol. 2: Golden Gate Park — and I still wish the mix was better and I could actually hear Roi. And then there are the shows I'm 90% sure I was at but have little recollection of. Like the "Pay For What You Get" from the Continental Airlines Arena '03 show Last edited by Chris Welch; 12-26-2019 at 05:17 PM. |

Quite a few, but I'll never forget sitting front row center balcony at SPAC for the epic Seek Up. I remember my jaw on the floor like it was yesterday. Which is funny, because I don't remember what I ate for lunch yesterday.

Yep. Tim has lost that in the full band setting, and Jeff has been limited, and when Jeff does go off, he plays WAY too many notes. Roi would play 20% of those notes and say so much more. I really don't feel very much when Jeff plays. It's a soulless sense of the playing to my ears, almost like he's just trying to get it all out as quickly as possible and up the energy.
The band has really lost all it's soul and feel. It a mechanical bull now. Likely lots of fun for them, but does very little to my ears and soul. Which is what I/WE fell for in the first place.

There's just something about Roi's tone, the grittiness of it, that I miss so much.

Mechanical is such a good word to describe the current sound/horns

He’s had some really good solos on Typical and BOWA since joining. He really shines on those songs. And WWYS too when he’s not using the flute |

Listen to roi on any ants from ‘97-04 right when he comes in post solo...he always plays his own thing and manages it perfectly.
Now listen to this arranged, canned garbage. Abysmal. |

Canned Horns ... might as well be a house band at this point. Thank God for Dave and Carter because otherwise what's the draw anymore?

This Jimi Thing is absolutely phenomenal.
And that's coming from someone who truly hates the song now.

Roi would play a subtle note or flourish and I find myself saying "I don't remember hearing that particular note before" and the reason was simple. He never had played it before and never did again. When he was locked in it was all about feeling. Rashawn is the living breathing version of "we got charts" and that's had an eroding effect on the organic style that drove me towards DMB in the first place.
Only through the first disk, but really like the mix with both guitar and bass being very prevalent. I like Butch, and 2.0 shows are always a good walk down memory lane, but I can easily do without him. Sugar Will wasn't as good as I hoped. Still love the tune, but definitely benefited from the tightening up post 2004. |

The worst part of this show was the motivation it gave me to go back in 2005.
