Yeah, the last several years have had quite a few nominees that were pretty obviously them trying to paper over some obvious holes.

Ah. Yeah, after I posted that I looked again and it would definitely be closer to the middle than the lower end. There are just a lot of artists on that list that should already be admitted. I might not like them more, but the fact that Kraftwerk and the MC5 aren’t in the HOF is crazy to me.

You guys. I get that DMB didn’t make revolutionary music. However, based on some of the other acts that have already been inducted, DMB certainly deserves to be included. Argue all you want about watered down standards and a low bar, but there are more questionable musicians that have received the honor.

Has anyone said that they don’t deserve to be admitted? If you’re referencing me, I certainly didn’t say or mean that. I’m thrilled that they got nominated, if a little surprised (I always kind of figured that they’d be one of the bands that they eventually got around to). It doesn’t mean that I think they’re the most deserving band on the list, but that definitely doesn’t mean that I don’t think they are deserving at all.

The last thing this band needs is any validation on the mostly shit product they've been putting out. They were a band destined for the hall of fame 20 years ago, but they went astray. Worst DMB timeline, really.

Having said that, excluding all album efforts, they deserve credit for their massive touring success over the years. Maybe that's enough.

None of that means that anyone thinks they don’t deserve it, just that there’s surprise that the people who actually make these picks agreed.
