I'm on a surprisingly number of DMB groups on Facebook and they are all complaining and it's pretty hilarious. It's like nobody actually understands the rules and just made a bunch of assumptions. Then when those assumptions don't hold it's not their fault but the R&R HOF fault not doing what they wanted.

But I think it’s fair to criticize why the fan vote exists if the top two voted acts aren’t inducted. What purpose does it serve? Maybe it’s to let the voting committee know to nominate those acts again in the future?

I agree it’s pretty dumb to have a fan vote, which is heavily promoted by the HOF and the individual nominees, where it just doesn’t impact the final decision that much. Even though they spell that out somewhat, it’s still kind stupid and a waste of time.

It serves nothing but to get the fans involved and for the nominees to have some free press. People read way to much into the voting to have any meaning outside of the top 5 fan vote getters receive 1/1000 votes on the committee. This could all be a closed door affair like the Oscars, SAGs, and Grammy's if they wanted to.

At the end of the day your voted in by music industry people which could be record exes or members of other bands. For example Paul Shaffer is a well know person that has been on the committee for years.

I couldn't care less about the RnR HOF. I suppose it'd be a nice honor for them but I couldn't tell you who is in and who is not in general. It's not something I've ever heard used as a barometer for discussing a band's quality.

Smiths, Jim Croce, and Warren Zevon.

Now that Tupac and Biggie are in, Outkast should be a no brainer.
