I don't know why I find it interesting they refer to Spotlight as 'retired,' but I do. Not 'long dorment,' or some shit. Retired. Deader than fuck.
Excuse me, THE now retired Spotlight.

Looks like a great show, but nothing I'm interested in buying. I feel like I have a ton of similar shows from 92 easily available to me.
Was hoping for the summer 98, 9/00, spring 02, July 2004 show.

Also, I just listened to this show a few months ago and I remember Warehouse being pretty great with minimal Peter shenanigans. |

Not that excited by this. Have enough '93 stuff. And what I've heard from '92 I'm not keen on. But should be interesting anyway. Cool that it's the first full mixed show, that's for sure. I'll listen.

No really you will not regret listening to this show and the fact that we don't have a compete tape of the show in circulation makes it even a better choice. This is roots DMB, without shows like this, the band wouldn't be who they are today. I'm def buying.

I totally get and appreciate this POV. It had to start somewhere. But this sound is probably my least favorite DMB. Roi is the only thing I like a lot about it. He wails in those early years. But Dave's voice is so nasal, his guitar sounds too light and hollow IMO, and I truly dislike Peter Grieser's Casio keyboard sound more than most of you hate Rashawn and the Lovely Ladies. I like having a couple shows from this era, but I don't really ever listen to pre-1995 shows.

It definitely is, although if the 25th anniversary has anything to do with this selection then the cover art is a real head scratcher.

Keep making your way down this list DMB camp, please? I am happy with what we've gotten in the last year and this is no exception. I remember listening to the incomplete recording of this show and loving "Boyd's Blues" or "Last Call Jam" or whatever you want to call it. I don't see it on the tracklist here but I assume, based on the description of the show, that it's here because Leroi was totally egging Boyd on during that Improv. So yeah, Griesar era isn't my favorite but I will be buying this one. |
