I've listened to this show before, but not any of the bonus tracks. The songs they picked look good but anybody know if they are good versions?

They weren't randomly selected. The highlights are the full #40 (light accompaniment by Stefan and Carter), a very good Two Step, and whoever wrote the write up did not lie about The Last Stop. There's a 5 minute silence before it because Dave went through 2 guitars before getting one that worked and he took his rage out on it.

I preordered the mp3s on the wh store - total came out to $13.42...that's $0.57 off the list price. Finally, a WH member discount!

I don't think the Martin saw any time in 2000. 2000 was predominately Taylors' 714 (6-string) and I believe the W65 (12-string).

I love the old 714's with the western red cedar tops, they don't make them like that anymore, Bob switched to sitka spruce.

Right. I remembered that it was an acoustic, but I forgot that he switched off of the Martin.

That W65 is about the most beautiful guitar I've ever seen.

Correct. Dave got his dm3md's before the hartford '99 run and used it almost exclusively. The chet was still used on those certain songs through the stadium run in '00 iirc. Then dumped completely.

I'm still amazed they haven't brought this cover back with Tim in the band now.

Wow, I was so preoccupied with yesterday's show and didn't even see this announcement. Holy crap what an amazing release! Everybody please purchase this show, so that the almanac can help choose more in the future. I can't wait for this to come out

Really sweet release. Summer '99 tends to get overlooked for obvious reasons but there are really nice shows from it including this one. And to the Chet and Martin talk. I haven't liked Daves sound since he went to the Taylor and especially now with the Gibson acoustics he's been using. The Chet cut through the mix better and the Martin was perfect for their sound ala Listener Supported. Part of the complaint of not hearing Dave at shows stems from his guitar choice, not just mixing. Though last night I could hear him more than normal.

What are the obvious reasons? Sandwiched between 1998 and 2000?

Yep. 7/9/00 was the last show where it was used for more than half a show and 7/25/00 Mile High was the last known show of that era where the Chet was used. I forget what song it was used for.
