Buddy of mine from Milwaukee told me the reason Braun failed his test was because he has herpes and his medication is what tested positive. I would love for him to have to come out and say that to prove his innocence. That's almost as good as a 50 game ban in my book. Fuck the Brewers.

If that's the case, I imagine he did say just that at his appeal hearing last week. But yeah, that'd be great if they overturn his suspension and that reason becomes public knowledge

We grew up together, he lived next door. We would play baseball from sun up to sun down every chance we got. Played ball with him from tee ball to high school. I also think the Tribe has my other friend to Kyle Landis (pitcher)he lived up the street from us. Same storyline. Seems Kyle is with the AA Akron Aeros

Not a bad pickup. Not sure how much of an impact he'll have. He'll certainly compete for the 1B position at camp, barring a legitimate pickup for first before then. He's a fringe MLB guy.

Impressive minor league numbers, no doubt. But those rarely translate.

kinda feel bad for him Joe Madden was from our hometown(HS baseball field named after him) so he kinda had it good with the Rays. Russ has always had a good bat ever since Little League. So If he gets some playing time I think he'll put up some good numbers.

I'm all for extended playoffs, but I think the season is too long for JUST a one game playoff. Best of 3 if anything IMO.

I think that the 1 game playoff will draw a lot of attention and will be a real popular event. I agree that a best 2 of 3 would be a better idea.

Definitely a nice pickup for the Indians.

Canzler's K% has hovered around 20% all his career, but he looks to have some pop and a little bit of speed. Should be able to compete with LaPorta for some playing time at 1st.

Oh I don't doubt that it will be popular and exciting, just think that it's dumb for it to come down to 1 game. I always enjoy the best of 3 in the College World Series.

re: the one game wild card playoff... I think it accomplishes it's main purpose, which is to avoid the situation we've had where 2 teams in the same division are both guaranteed playoff berths via the division title or wild card, and don't really care too much about which one (and sometimes the WC spot even gives them a better DS matchup), which kills any kind of September pennant race... With the WC spot now giving you only that 1 game shot at advancing, much more emphasis will be placed on winning the division...

Nothing but potential, but yea, at this point I think it's a lost cause. He's got half a season left with the Tribe to prove himself, I'd say.
