The TV Thread (Netflix, Networks, Cable, Whatever)
We talk about it enough in the chat thread, so it may as well have it's own thread for news, new titles, etc.
pretty pumped about the original Law And Order and Wonder Years being on there now. |

I wonder if they don't get released at the same time to all accounts, because I've had law and order for a few months now...

Gonna cancel Netflix next week. I feel like I really have to lower my standards to find something worth watching on there. It's a a great service for the casual movie watcher but I just don't get much value out of it anymore.

it's worth it for the television shows alone.
i have close to 400 things in my instant queue, so all the complaints about shitty selection are bullshit. imo i mean, hell, they just added To Live And Die In L.A. and the first two Death Wish flicks. |

Definitely. I've watched the entire series of many shows on Netflix that I otherwise would have never seen. The DVDs aren't worth it any more though. I've had two DVDs sitting here since August that I've been too busy or just not in the mood to watch.
Has anyone here watched Friday Night Lights? It's a fantastic show, but Netflix only has through season 5 and I'm sure it went longer.

Oh no, I'm going to have to find something new to watch now! I covered all 5 seasons in about a month. I never watched it on tv and thought it wasn't something I'd like, but it was so well done with such real characters that I got addicted.

the end of the last episode should have tipped you off that it was the series finale

Hoping to rebound from its recent troubles, Netflix is doubling down on giving customers more of what they’ve increasingly turned to the company for: long, rambling emails from Reed Hastings. Also, streaming television content, which Netflix has just significantly re-upped on, extending and even expanding its library of Disney-ABC titles. The revitalized deal allows it to hold onto episodes of shows like Lost, Grey’s Anatomy, Brothers And Sisters, Felicity, Desperate Housewives, Private Practice, and Ugly Betty, plus ABC Family shows like The Secret Life Of The American Teenager and Disney Channel shows like Phineas And Ferb. Of course, with the renewing of vows between Netflix and Disney-ABC comes the reminder that theirs is now an open relationship: The studio has also announced a deal with Amazon Prime to carry almost all of those exact same shows. The measure of which service it loves more probably comes down to the slight differences between their respective contracts, with Amazon getting Marvel animated shows like Spider-Man and X-Men Evolution, but Netflix getting Hannah Montana, Army Wives, and—in perhaps its biggest coup—all episodes of Alias, with Netflix now enjoying the rare experience of finding Jennifer Garner comforting. [via Deadline] pretty pumped about Alias, i was wanting to start that soon |

Both ended well. Pissed Terminator didn't get a 3rd season especially after that finale. Veronica Mars didn't have a great 3rd season, but they ended well and wondered how season 4 would have been. Plus they did do the pitch for her in the FBI the following season.

Netflix doesn't have a home page that let's people know the recent additions? Do they have a link to an online suggestion box if not? I mean hell.

I don't really use Netflix on the computer. I just use it on my Xbox. Plus I'm not going to use this for recent additions, necessarily.

Almost anything that's available is listed on netflix, but if netflix doesn't stock it yet you can click the button (it's green, i forget what it says) but essentially once 500 people hit the button (we'll call it the request button) then they start distributing it. I only know this because my girlfriend's uncle filmed some hippy documentary that's waiting for its 500 requests.
