well no shit. but it is what it is. no one can replace him. if it makes Phil, Bob, Mickey, etc. happy to continue playing the music, what do you care? they are not doing it for the money. I guarantee if either one of those three died, Jerry would have continued touring as the Dead with the remaining members.

I love it when people try to talk like they are uber heady. The fact is that the core four are can still play great music. If you go expecting to hear the Grateful Dead, it will suck. If you go with an open mind, I think you'll be impressed and have a great time.

Well said. I've seen them as "The Dead" 3 times and each time they have put on a tremendous show. Is it like I was at Buckeye Lake again in 93'? No, but its still a good time.

This has been difficult (for me at least) to track down since supplies ran out after the reissue in '03 I believe. But Dead.net just made available some more American Beauty LP remasters if anyone is interested. 18 bucks is a lot for a vinyl but I've always wanted this one.

Have any of you tried out the iPhone app Wolfgang's Vault? I just installed it, and noticed there are tons of Dead shows available on it. I'm not a huge fan so I can't tell you if they are good shows or not, but I was pretty surprised at the number on there. It's a free app.

Weir, Lesh & Furthur Perform Classic Grateful Dead Albums
At Memorial Day Weekend's Furthur Festival, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh and Furthur performed six classic Grateful Dead albums in their entirety: American Beauty, Workingman's Dead, Anthem of the Sun, Blues for Allah, Aoxomoxoa, and Terrapin Station. For those who arrived early they also performed a public sound check Friday 5/28. |
