Poor taste to kick-off the set with Gravedigger?

I wonder how many times Dave/DMB need to break negative expectations for it to stick. Nobody thought Vegas would bring out anything interesting, and we got a bunch of rarities. I doubt anyone expecting him to play American Tune last night. Mexico was interesting too. So far 2020 has surpassed our usually negative expectations I think.

This was a wild guess of mine, but not sure if that constitutes a rumor (unless there's a rumor I don't know about).

Just caught some of that Kimmel interview. I don't know man, it's weird. I used to hang on every word from Dave, now his shtick just seems kind of tired to me. And I'm not hating on the Simon song, but why has Dave morphed into this entirely cucked version of himself when it comes to solo stuff? I need something more original from this guy. Remember when he'd play songs like Warehouse in a solo setting? Something with a little fire and passion? That cover was just completely forgettable.

I thought it was great and apropos. I mean, he basically said these lyrics are why he was playing it.

Quote:
And I don't know a soul who's not been battered
I don't have a friend who feels at ease
I don't know a dream that's not been shattered
or driven to its knees
But it's all right, it's all right
We've lived so well so long
Still, when I think of the road
we're traveling on
I wonder what went wrong
I can't help it, I wonder what went wrong
The rest of it is on you. You’re growing up and no linger worshiping a complete stranger is part of it. And he really hasn’t dropped any random songs in solo spots in like 20 years. The last time I remember him playing warehouse solo was 1993.

The interview wasn’t particularly interesting. I thought the performance was great. Perfect song and well played. I’m not sure what dmb song would have made sense there. Definitely didn’t need to hear mercy or everyday. Bowa or pig would have been a little uncomfortable I think. Dave nailed it as far as I’m concerned.

Agreed on all of that. Also, he certainly did not go the lazy route. That song is harder to play than most of his own.
