I enjoy Ten more than the rest of them. Maybe it's because I grew up with a lot of those songs. I enjoy the way the songs sound too. I kind of have a similar thing with Radiohead and OK Computer and Counting Crows and August and Everything After.

you enjoy the songs sounding incredibly dated?

the re-mix and remaster helped a bit, but the original Ten sounds like it was recorded in 1988. fucking awful.

there's not much more infuriating then the retards who think PJ's best work was Ten and they stopped being relevant after Vitalogy.

What album are you listening to?

I think Yield is one of their best albums, not sure which one I find to be their best though.

the mark of a great band is when there isn't one album that is considered their best and you'll get so many different answers.

that said, Vitalogy is clearly the best.

I actually dig it. It fits the music. Ever listen to a White Stripes album?

lo-fi isn't the same as an album drenched in cheesy reverb and hair metal drums. come on now.

What do you mean? White Stripes have the same cheesy shit on their albums too. Granted it's a novelty thing for them, but I think Ten sounds fine the way it is. I'm downloading the remastered and remixed re-release though right now. (most re-'s in a sentence ever.)

I honestly think that Riot Act is their best. Like I said before I enjoy Ten the most though.

i question your hearing if you think the drums on Ten sound anything like the drums on a White Stripes record. Meg sounds big, but still natural.

the songs themselves on Ten are kind of dated too. almost all of them are so much better in the current live setting with the little tweaks they've made to them over the years to keep them fresh and modern, most notably Garden, Why Go, Even Flow, Jeremy. the production the re-mixed version is pretty fucking tits though. all the reverb and echo on ed's voice is taken off and he actually sounds like he's in a decent room and not singing in a gymnasium, and the guitars and bass sound so much more natural and aggressive.

and man, riot act might be my least favorite PJ album by a large margin. the band, and especially ed, sound like they were sleeping through that whole thing. like ten, the songs are much better live imo
