Yeah this album is real solid, it's got some some flaws but it's easily the best collection of songs since BS was released imo. I was crazy about BW when it came out but a lot of it hasnt aged well, plus the album isn't really well put together. AFTW was good when it came out but I never listened to it all the way through often. The only song I find myself even wanting to skip on this album is TGIY, and I don't hate that song as much as others.

I was definitley into Big Whiskey much more than this album when it first came out, but I was a younger less jaded fan then. Also, that album were all songs no one had ever heard. 80% of this album is songs we’ve known for years. And like you said, I agree that the studio versions of those songs haven’t aged well. I think this album will. I can see myself listening to these actual studio tracks over some of the live versions years from now.

BS has always been a bad layup of an album. I listen to the LWS if I want to hear those tunes.

You must hate it when Roi takes over an album, because to me Roi IS Busted Stuff. Great songs and raw production. But I guess I also don't need the producer to be the sixth member all the time...

I liked the theory behind it, too. Steve Harris said in an interview at the time that everyone knew the songs. There was no need to come into the studio and do a bunch of production that made them sound different from what everyone knew. Come in and play some tightened up versions and have them sound the way we wanted them and fell in love with them.

exactly why i never listen to this album and don't respect it at all - lazy effort. LWS contains the definitive versions for me and that's just the way it is...

It's not lazy. It's a conscious decision. People knew the songs why do a bunch of overdubs to songs people already love, and loved in a live setting.

What exactly are you looking for that isn't there and isn't there because of laziness. A million sax overdubs on Bartender outro, even though the song wasn't actually played like that any more, ok fine. They also wrote two new songs, reworked two of them completely for better or worse.

Disagree with the theory behind it, but it wasn't "we just don't feel like working hard."
