Dave has brainwashed and conditioned these people to like the bad songs by playing them over and over and over again for years. Dave is god, if he thinks these songs should be played every night they must be amazing, and there's a reason he doesn't play the old rare songs. #dmbfamily

There's definitely an element of the fan base being pretty uncritical of Dave's writing involved, but you have to also remember that it's been 16 years since ED came out and triggered a significant changeover in the type of people who follow the band. Those people like these songs because these are the songs that made them fans in the first place. Most of the fans of the older, rarer songs are long gone.

Yea for sure, I get that. Honestly it's more upsetting that the material the last 15 years on the whole has not been good. Like when you think about it, the big 3 tunes are really old, it's not surprising Dave/the band would want to play the stuff they've put out in more recent years. It's just a shame that we're at a point where they've arguably put out more subpar music than good music in their career.

Weird flow to close the end of the set, and then the underwhelming encores. But hey, it's Europe.

That set, honestly, is barely better than what they've been playing in europe.

That six song run to close is legit, though.

Yeah, it's a rare one in that regard. I love that particular show, but it has nothing to do with the setlist for me, I just think the performances are all top notch and Dave's voice was super on point. But yeah, by no means a great setlist...I actually think this year they've played better sets on paper than that Oakland one. The point is, they COULD be mixing stuff up so much more, as we all know. It's a broken record at this point, DMB or not, Dave is writing these sets and for the most part is super content at barely expanding the catalog. All these songs missing or barely played (You Never Know, JTR, Busted Stuff, IBYU, Pay For, Proudest, Last Stop, Broken Things, Hello Again, Captain, Kit Kat Jam, Say Goodbye, DIDO, Rhyme, WYA, So Right, Pig, Spoon, Etc. The list goes on. Some of those are stretches and wishful thinking but some are no brainers.)

It's always been that way though, even way back in the 90s. The band played ever more similar, stale shows back to back, night after night. There's more variety now than ever actually. But the problem is exactly what we've all pointed out-----that the past 10+ years of new material is subpar stuff not many fans (us at least) have much of an interest in.

The current songs in Rotation are awful. And we know the songs we're talking about. We know the hits are always going to be there, I have no complaints about those. That's why I even accept You And Me (but HELL NO as a closer. Stop that.) But there's just little excuse for so many bad songs to be in rotation. Dave knows that a lot of people don't like Virginia, Death on High Seas, OOMH, Mercy, etc. Yet he continues to shove them down our throats. The worst part about those songs too, is that almost none of them are different D+T than DMB. They're almost identical, so they don't even sound fresh.

Does Dave know a lot of people don't like those songs? I highly doubt that

I wonder if Dave thinks people dont like some of those songs, or just thinks that they just prefer hearing older songs.
