I'm sold on studio Granny alone! Wonder if Nancies and Jane are full-band acoustic.....that'd be even better.

Get in Line was not finished in the studio according to Lillywhite.

Wondering it is the same acoustic solo demo versions that have been floating around for years.

Honestly, I'd take the roughed in track, but I'll also take the studio Granny. I wonder if those "acoustic" versions are just D&T versions. I doubt they recorded acoustic versions in the studio.

Granny! Nice.

Isn't this the guy that's on ants though? Chadizzy? Not as familiar with what his sources may be, might have a good track record with these things, not sure.

Would much rather here it officially from the band's site.

Of course you would take it. We all would take any snippet of anything we can get. But who knows if there's even a full rough cut of it.

In order to conform to CD-DA standards max playing time is 79.8 minutes and 99 tracks, however you can usually overburn CD-Rs to around 81~82 minutes but risk not playing on all CD players.

I agree, usually because remasters just mean "we cranked it and destroyed the dynamics in the process"...however I think they could still improve on the CD. I think UTTAD is the best of the RCA albums in terms of mastering but when you look at the PCM stereo audio from What Would You Say? on the DMB: The Videos 1994~2001 DVD it's got noticeably better dynamics than the CD release and more headroom...they could easily release a fully dynamic CD for us.

What Would You Say? (video version on top)

The difference definitely becomes more apparent when you compare the more poorly mastered albums like BTCS and Everyday.

Don't Drink the Water (video version on top)

I Did It (video version on top)

Would love to have a CD release of BTCS mastered like DDTW was. Each video was mastered differently and some of the other tracks are equally as undynamic as their studio CD counterparts.

One thing is for sure, the stereo masters of the DMB albums have full dynamics and headroom and there is no excuse for handicapping them with loudness wars mastering. There's also no excuse for doing a CD > vinyl for UTTAD.

Seems pretty likely Granny is the only new song and STJL and Nancies will just be the same recordings that were released on the original promo for UtTaD: [Only registered users can see links.]

Based on that same lillywhite interview, it's probably just Dave, Tim, Carter, and Stefan.

That's how they play it live, too. Wouldn't be surprised.

Dug a little deeper.

A post on weekly Davespeak six years ago says the STJL was from the June 1991 Rutabaga Studio Sessions we all have (the one with After Her on it) and the Nancies is from 1991 Quad Studio sessions that I think is also traded.

So wait, these were previously released? Interesting. I know we have the Rutabaga and Quad demos (albeit in less-than-stellar quality,) but didn't know those tracks were put on a CD back in the day. Cool.
