It's widely known that RCA wasn't happy with what was coming out of the sessions and finally moved on it when Carter said something to Bruce Flohr about being dissatisfied with where they were. I've always been under the impression that Carter's issue was more about the process than the music, but it's clear that RCA didn't believe that Dave was going to deliver the album they wanted. That does imply a lack of faith/trust.
