If he didn't think you were an American you have a shot.... He said as much in London when doing Dreamgirl and Sugar Will.

I personally find his music to be Cuban propaganda and encourage anybody curious to research. That's all I'm gonna say here

After reading the link you posted and a bit more, it seems as if the nueva trova movement in general could be considered Cuban propaganda, but also that Carlos Varela in particular is notable for being highly critical of the Cuban government. His music is considered "nueva trova" anyway because of all of the other similarities, but it seems to me that the aspect of this genre you're critical of is the one aspect that doesn't apply to Varela's music.

It would be like saying that you consider Stryper to be a Satanic band because you've been reading about how heavy metal is Satanic.

This is what he does with everything. And don't be expecting any sort of response from him to your reasoned, factually based reply to his original insanity. He just moves on to his next bag of crazy.

I don't think anyone is rattled. I think people just don't want this side to become like the politics thread.

Exactly. DMBc isn't the place for it and I've already had the politics thread ruined for me.

Wow this set looks awesome. Just when we started to crap on the tour. Having Jimi Thing in the two slot is ready nice and just looks super refreshing. Love it. Best setlist of this leg.

I thought it was a lot more polite than shouting as he's starting to play another song like everyone else!

I would highly recommend you download and take a listen, great show and quality recording:
