BEST YEAR OF DMB (CHOOSE WORST YEAR) 1999-2019 (ROUND 1)

CHOOSE THE WORST YEAR
This will be interesting. Thought about splitting this into two separate polls with pre-2000 and post 2000, but I think we pretty much all know that 95, 97, 98 would end up coming out on top for that. This should be more entertaining.

While Round 1 should be pretty easy, the bottom 4 choices will be eliminated. Also, everyone can vote for more than one choice. so you can pick your worst 2 or 3 if you desire. So I'm excited to see what goes into the shitter with '01 and '05, which I suspect will be the first to go.

I went with the obvious '01 and '05, and I also picked '19 and '15 which were also dreadful to me.

BTW 2017 should be 2018, that was a typo.

I picked 05, 12 and 19. At least 01 had Roi. I cant listen to a single show from 05 and enjoy it however. I like the 01 live trax from Camden and Folsom isnt terrible. I wasnt around then but i think thats

2012 is really a terrible year, it made me take a big dive in my fandom because the shows i saw were so uninspired. 2014 i actually enjoyed, and 2015 i saw some great shows. 2016 is the last year with boyd, which had its low points but there were some great shows and performances. I wanted to pick 2018, but there was some definite excitement seeing them after a year off, whereas 2019 was pretty lackluster.

Yeah, the excitement of having Buddy fresh in there and wondering what they'd do without Boyd made for an entertaining year, and Fall 2018 was a very good tour, one of the better ones from the last decade imo, and there was also the excitement of the album.

2019 was essentially the same with all of the fresh part gone and the album had ultimately disappointed and didn't hold up. Things got super stale, super quick. There's no full 2019 show I could get through, a couple of cool performances here and there but not much else.

2005 if we mean overall, but 2007 if we're just talking about tours. I went with 2007 since I wasn't sure.

Mainly tours, but you can factor in everything for the year. Like if a good album came out, that always brings it up a notch etc.

I voted for 2001 but now my heart is telling me 2019 is the worst year on this list.

I started going to shows in 2002, so I look back on 2001 shows a lot more fondly than older fans. Folsom has some great performances, and that LT from 2001 is great.

My bottom 5, from worst to best:

2005 - SU
2019 - Sets were way too repetitive. The first half of the calendar year of 2019 was so brutally predictable/repetitive it frightened me. Half-Stop happened. And weather delays were somehow weirdly common.
2007 - Lackluster Spring run abroad, really bad sets until Alpine. Alpine onward was quite good though. Cornbread, ADSR, Eh Hee, #27 were solid new songs.
2006 - After Randalls Island, sets became pretty bad. Also, still too much SU. IOY, Break Free, KTK were good new songs. Sister and Can't Stop were brutal.
2009 - Spring was great, but summer was too overloaded with BW leading to repetitive sets

2012 has big highlights though. I think that tour has aged really well. Recently listened to a compilation from it, and loved it.

I voted 2001, 2005, 2007 and 2015. First two are bad album years and the last two were uninspired performance-wise, like the band was bored with themselves.

I've always found 2015 underrated around here. The sheer number of different songs they played was incredible. And they mixed up the acoustic sets much more than 2014.

2012 has a bunch of solid shows. It's consistent and good overall, just nothing really special about it.

Those Little Thing > Intro jam > Funny The Way It Is openers were pretty great.

A bunch of great You Never Know, Dreaming Tree, Typical performances too.

Couple shows I like:

LOL pulling up a gorge setlist is a bit unfair, but the Burgettstown setlist is quite nice. I was at 6.05.12 and i definitely enjoyed it, the Mansfield Jam was born that night. There was also a fantastic You Never Know that night as well.

I also was totally soured by SPAC N2 that year. I didnt go to the night prior, and i missed Mansfield N2 so i basically missed all the interesting songs like Halloween > Billes and Minarets. SPAC N2 was easily the most lackluster shows ive seen at that venue, not to mention the shows i saw at Mohegan and the TD Garden were boring as hell.

Stanley Jordan guested a lot, and almost everything was fantastic, especially Dreaming Trees. Halloween > Billies was cool one summer combo. I liked getting the new songs throughout the tour. Other good guest spots from Eric Krasno.

2012 was a solid yet unspectacular year. Some cleaner and more laid back performances, then they went balls to the walls in 2013.
