Not a wine drinker myself. Wasn't a fan of IPAs until I had a Pliney The Elder. That beer is delicious. Then someone told me to try Super Cluster. Also really good, but not as good as Pliney. When it comes to coffee, Peets Italian Roast. Hard Liquor choice is Pendleton Canadian Whiskey. Is it wrong that I mix the whiskey with Ginger Ale?

My step mom loves a whiskey ginger. There’s nothing wrong with mixing your whiskey, as long as you’re not dumping Coke into Pappy or something like that. I personally enjoy a Monkey Shoulder highball from time to time, and Evan Williams Bottled in Bond is great mixed with Coke.

Not sure if I posted this or not. But when I worked at the Seelbach I had a bartender tell me a story. On derby day the year before I worked there, a guy came into the bar and ordered a shot of Louis XIII cognac. Which runs at around $4000 a bottle. The guy was already sloshed. It was poured for him and he proceded to pour it into a coke. All of the workers were like "NOOOOOOOOOO!" and he just said "its better this way" and dumped it and drank it.

Is it weird that I think chicken salad is gross but I love potato salad, tuna salad, and egg salad?

Macaroni salad is the best. Carrot salad isn't far behind though.

I work for LexisNexis, in their legal research department. Most of what I do is training people to use our various products, but we also offer research assistance as a service. On Friday I got asked by a newer employee to help with someone she was getting questions that she couldn’t answer from. I jumped into the call and he told me his story.

He’s a former attorney from Montana whose wife died in 1999. In 2014 he was charged, tried and convicted for her murder. After serving four years, the Montana Supreme Court overturned his conviction. He’s using our research tools to assist in his own defense at his retrial. Today I read his case opinion and did a little Googling and discovered that there’s a Dateline NBC episode about his case. Crazy.

Man, do I wish the 'ignore thread' feature on the board would work. Just takes me to a blank page when I try to select it.

Solved! Amazing!

Dear Lord, grow up. You’re always whining on here.

We went to our old Bug Light/Spring Point neighborhood in South Portland the other day and saw a house on Broadway (1,000 sq. ft) for $342,000, so I see things haven't come back to Earth.

As a Portland resident, what are your thoughts on voters approving the local rent control initiative? I read an article in the PPH focusing on the landlord perspective, and a couple of friends were featured. Not sure I agree with them.

In my area, that's a steal. Two houses in this neighborhood have sold in the past 4 years. One house was 930 Square feet and sold in 2016 for $1,006,000. The owners remolded and expanded the house and are currently living in it. Square footage is unknown. The second house was about the same square footage, 930 feet. It sold May of last year for 1,005,000. The owners flipped it, turned it into a 2,188 square foot house and are trying to sell it for $1,788,000.

I came home from Thanksgiving and apartment was at 99 degrees (per the thermostat, probably hotter). Called maintenance and they 'fixed' it. Now the heat doesn't' work at all
