yeah, maybe they'll be more open to live streams and such now that they don't have to worry about Boyd skreeing it up

As someone with a kid, this would be great as my days of going to shows are on hold for now. I'd happily pay for a few shows each tour.

They probably see the amount of people watching shitty periscope feeds, a decline in attendance, and realize this is too easy to not be involved in.

Live streams and soundboards for sale would be like printing money for them with not a ton of effort.

I didn't even think about that aspect of it. It just makes too much sense. I'd pay a hefty chunk for something like a Summer Tour Pass, just to have access to a large number of audio and/or video live streams.

I agree it looks like a test run, but why on earth are they starting halfway through the tour? wouldnt it make sense to start this earlier?

unless as people mentioned with boyd being a reason not to, but also they werent sure how theyd sound with buddy, so easing into it.

I'm not entirely familiar with the concept. Are there other bands that offer a "summer tour pass" or something to that effect?

If so, how much does it cost on average?

Dead & Company are $29.99 per show and you can re-watch the show one time. You can buy the entire tour for roughly $500 or so.

The email announcing the live stream said they're "celebrating the new album Come Tomorrow," and if that was going to be the theme of the first live stream of the tour, they probably knew the band wouldn't want to bust out all of the new songs at the first show of the tour.

Jesus. When I said I'd pay a hefty chunk for a Summer Tour Pass, that wasn't quite what I had in mind. I have no knowledge of pricing for this type of product/service, but that seems to be a lot higher than I thought it would be.

That per show D&C price is a lot higher than other ones I've seen.

I would end up using that service quite a bit if shows were in the $12-$15 range.

ah, i mean smaller bands like Umphrey’s may do $13 streams, but no way a band like DMB does that kind of pricing.

Phish streams are usually $25 for HD these days. NYE was $35, but it included an extra set

Ah see I had no idea. I'm sure I'd still buy a few at $25. Like SPAC and what not.

They don't have to worry about live editing Boyd out of the recording every night any more.

I heard it was planned before Boyd was let go then shelved. It was brought back partially because the weather mix up. They are also planning a free show in VA in the future.

They should be doing this more. Phish has been doing it for years, and their webcasts are much cheaper than Dead Co. they only stream the big runs, and 2/3 night stands and it’s like $20 for HD for every show, 15/16$ for SD. Totally worth it. DMb wouldn’t have to do a whole tour just do the big venues that sell out—alpine, SPaC, Gorge etc.

Bingo. That’s the plan after 2018.
