I look forward to reading through everyone's posts here when I can focus more.

I live on the north shore of Long Island and I am very happy here. I love my home and neighborhood, near harbors and the Sound and not far from the ocean and NYC. Generally good culture nearby. Only other place I lived (besides NYC for 2 years) was Florida, and I like LI much more. Only complaints are traffic in areas, my town maybe is too "affluent" and some of the people are thus annoying- I prefer "down to earth" people generally-, and LI is entirely flat and I love visiting mountainous areas and would also be happy somewhere with mountains and rivers.

Shaker is pretty diverse, both economically and racially. A nice house there is probably in the ballpark of $400k. Itís not too far from some of the nice cultural things (museums, orchestra) and still close to downtown. I live on the west side, but if i were to live on the east side Iíd look in shaker or Cleveland heights.

I’m not going to say that I love Dayton, but it’s much better than I ever would have guessed before moving here. It’s got its problems (urban blight, jobs, #1 in the country in opioid overdoses), but it’s also got a decent arts and music scene, a fantastic parks department, excellent schools in the suburbs and 18 breweries for a 800,000 person metro area. We definitely like it.
