For a band with such a great live show, this would be awesome.

Any takers? Is there anyone else that would be interested in hearing an album like this?
I'd definitely be interested in something like that. I know Umphrey's did a day long session at Abbey Road recording a bunch of live only tunes, 1-3 takes per song then added overdubs and studio vocals back stateside and it came out as an album that had that studio feel but with live energy which I think could be a really fun experiment from DMB given the amount of live stuff they have that hasn't been recorded. With good preparation I'm sure they could instrumentally knock out a bunch of tunes in a few takes.

I'd like them to resurrect Roi and this tune: [Only registered users can see links.]

My biggest problem with GGT is the fact that it has sucked every year other than '04. The riff doesn't sound nearly as good without the capo.

I would settle for any of this but what I want is live in studio, no overdubs. Let it be what it is. 1-3 takes per song and live with what you've got. They'd nail it.

I mean that's sort of what Busted Stuff was, right? All else being equal, I'd rather they do something a little more interesting, frankly.

I don't see BS being even remotely the same. It was not cut live which makes it nothing like what I'm suggesting. I think they just released an album that saw much less of the people touring with the band than I would like involved. They brought in orchestration and many guests and even included a songs originally composed by Alagia and Batson. That's as far from Dave Matthews Band as you can get and still sell it as such, IMHO. I want their nervous systems,on a warm, live recording with the songs that are live only. No amount of disgustingly glossy studio compression, edits and recording sessions done years and months apart could be more interesting than what they just released, especially since they just did a professional release that's got an excerpt from a youtube video on it.

That is pretty much what they did on Busted Stuff.

Right, but it's not exactly what they did which is what makes it different and a good idea in my mind.

I want LIVE (no overdubs, including vocals) in the studio recorded in a tape studio for the songs they consider live only.

I want a visual companion for the release and think it would be a nice follow up to contrast what they just released in a few months. Busted stuff was 15 years ago.

That literal explanation is what I would like.

I'm surprised people are getting shit for liking blackjack given the reaction to Can't Stop and Be Yourself. Why can't they like that one?

When I saw it night two in AC the lyrics seemed to have some kind of theme, even after someone hit Dave in the face with a beach ball.

I didn't get my vote but as long as BKDKDKDD made an album and people wanted to hear more it just seems odd to lambaste people for liking anything. Blackjack would fit right in on CT.

Couldn't find my way again here
And I know I've been here before
I used to be afraid of you
Now I'm just crazy for you
You put a spell on me baby
Now I put a spell on you
I used to be afraid of you
But know I just know your crazy
Put a spell on you baby
'Cause I know your crazy
I put a spell...
I know your crazy for me baby
You follow me back to my home baby
I'm not gonna let you in unless you beg baby baby
???
But i know your crazy baby...

I really just not sure
You say what you really think
"Oh, I really thought ? really thought/read about? I read about him
But I know exactly what it means to be"
But you don't but you don't know ???
?????????

I been the day I bought on
I walked on my road ???
?????????

You don't give up
You don't give up, you don't survive, give up
You don't give up, you don't survive, give up
You don't give up, you don't survive, blackjack
I got you in my hands

???
And I walk out the room and I look behind
And there you are, you go like "???"

You don't give up, ha ha ha
You don't give up, you don't survive, give up
You don't give up, you don't survive, blackjack
You don't give up, you don't survive, blackjack
I got you in my hand

"Nice shot man" (Dave addresses the guy that hit him in the head with a beachball)

But I know that your fucking crazy baby

You don't give up, ha
You don't give up, you don't survive, give up
You don't give up, you don't survive, blackjack
You don't give up, you don't survive, blackjack
I got you in my hand

I put a spell on you baby
And you know it's not a ? flame in the light? ??? afraid of the light
???

That boy is not gonna be here
No watch him all ??? here
Watch it go ???
And you don't you don't ???
I know your crazy baby

I don't know what to tell you. I listen to every song on Come Tomorrow except the title track and I think "I am enjoying this!" And I listen to Blackjack and want to murder kittens.

Lyrically its pretty terrible, I will give you that. I actually enjoy the buildup of the song, and the end part of the song. There are not that many songs that I dislike or hate though. I mean I have tiers of songs in my head, but I enjoy an awful lot of their music and that song is one I do enjoy more than not. Given a choice at a live show, I would rather hear Blackjack then Sister, or Steady as we Go, You and Me, Bayou. I could think of other songs as well.
