I don't like that scratch guitar track that is on all of the LWS songs. When a band records, they typically plug an acoustic/electric guitar right into the board and lay down a "scratch track" and they then go down and lay down properly mic's acoustic guitar tracks later. Either they never got to that point during the LWS or Lillywhite just chose the scratch track for the quick demo mix because it was quicker/easier.

I agree that as much as possible should be retained (especially the vocals), but I would LOVE for them to properly record the guitar tracks and properly mix the tracks, and release them to us.

I think the only thing I would want more than that is for them to fully open the vaults to us on unreleased studio tracks. One can dream.

Next album: What known songs do you want that didn't make Come Tomorrow?

They should make that album with all the BTCS commercials, bkdkdkdd, and some of the other teases theyve done (gas into fire, etc) fleshed out

JTR is one of my favorites from this band, and I agree 100% that I don't ever want them to rerecord, the only way I would is if it was with Lillywhite. I don't trust anyone else with that song.

The direct horn intro is one of the worst changes to the newer Sugar Will. It badly needs to go back to Dave's simple little riff and maybe a brief Stefan solo.

This is interesting.

I love the quality of all the guitar on the LWS, but some of that could be sentimentality I suppose. Although, that 12 string Dave used on it, and the early 00 tours, was absolutely gorgeous. I wouldn't want a studio JTR without that exact guitar.

Iíve always heard those tracks as being in various states of completion, with some very rough, some basically lacking only finishing touches or vocals and some being basically done. JTR has always sounded completely done to me.

Yeah I'm cool with it being that 12 string, but I want it properly mic'd and not the pickup fed directly into the board.

Same here. I never noticed anything about the guitar specifically.

After hearing VITR I'd really like to see what they could do with DOTHS in the studio.

I've said this before, but it should have taken the place of Come Tomorrow.

When I'm Weary is a better song, and mentions the title in it.

Besides, Come On Come On is the anthem of the album, not the title track.

I'd be happy hearing any of those to be honest, except Blackjack and DOTHS. I could live with everything else. The way Dave talks up Sister, I'm pretty surprised it never made it onto one of these last 3 records either. Figure it's coming at some point. He thinks it's one of his best songs and it's very personal to him.

I am so happy DOTHS didn't make this album. Also, kind of shocked because it seemed like he absolutely loved it in 2016-17.

you guys know....songs long times fan actually want.

I truly can't stand the production on the vast majority of CT.
Moving this here because I feel really strongly about it and this is the place to discuss this idea.

For a band with such a great live show, this would be awesome.

Any takers? Is there anyone else that would be interested in hearing an album like this?

Not exactly like this, but I get where you're coming from.

I don't think this exact thing would sound different than a regular live recording aside from the missing crowd.

However, I think for the Big 3 the band largely did their initial takes live in the studio, together. They then did overdubbing to properly track stuff (ex: mic the guitar tracks with no bleed instead of using the pickup, using a nice condenser mic for vocals, etc).

I get the sense that they did nothing like that for CT. Just pieced these things in separate sessions/studios whatever. That can work, but you lose some of the magic, and it feels less natural.

That's what I would want for those tracks you mentioned. They deserve the proper treatment.

Edit: You know, they should just call me when they're ready, I'll produce it.

I dig it but they've got the chops to do live in studio and it would sound awesome. Or if they did something like this for their next record right after the summer tour:

Ha, funny, I was thinking about that exact video when I was typing. I don't think DMB can pull that off to a level where I'd be satisfied with not having a proper studio recording. It would be interesting to see them do something like this but I still want the real deal.
