This is the first solo ever where nobody actually soloed.

Paul Vick must have been banging bitches on the soundboard when the horn mixing took place

Was a few knobs they couldn't quite get to

Practically, yeah. I mean, I thought Timís Samurai Cop solo was underwhelming.

Boyd probably had a huge solo there that they scrubbed.

This is the catchiest chorus Dave has written in ages imo

The bridge is bizarre, but this song is pretty great and I'm really glad it made the cut. Looking forward to a high quality rip through headphones.

just sounds so commercial and generic.

song's not offensive like come tomorrow, but there's a lot of lyrics in this song that aren't saying anything. I get it's just another love song but don't really feel passion in this.

also the whole song is more high-pitched vocal range for dave which I don't dig.

still, rather listen to this than you and me.

After a few more listens:

I like it, overall.
Catchy chorus. It goes somewhere.
I'm willing to bet money Boyd had a solo in the break and it disappeared.
Why have the LLs on this only to bury them?
I like the strings. I believe they're real, not synths.
Dave's vocals sound distant and just rough enough to notice. Maybe the better rip will clarify.
Rashawn can go fuck himself with the blunt end of his canned horn arrangements.
This is bland, generic dad-rock, but the best of the three tracks we've heard so far.

Why is anyone surprised by the bridge in any way? It’s basically exactly what they played live.

I dont know why people think Boyd had a solo, hope its a joke. The song when it was played live NEVER had any Boyd at all, and certainly no solo. That part was always there awkwardly with nothing happening...should have been a spot for Jeff or even Rashawn to have a little spotlight.

The reason why Lillywhite was so good at capturing DMB is because he just let them jam over the track and then he would find the special moments and mix them into the song throughout, which is much more organic and spontaneous like the band is when they play live. No other producer has ever realized that--they dont focus on the layering and the interplay between members, which is what makes DMB who they are. (at least, who they were).

No, it's not my man. Go re-listen to the first playing in c-ville. Not even close.

I’ve listened to that version 100 times. It was Carter, Stefan and Tim noodling around then, just as it is now. Of course it was looser and faster Live, since this version is slowed down and Carter is more reserved. But I mean there was never any Boyd or horns or anything.
