right, but then he would be thrown off by the time he got to Sink Or Swim. and their sound changed a bit between '59 Sound and American Slang too. may as well just start from the beginning, like i said they're all accessible unless you hate punk rock, but if you hate punk rock you suck.

Don't worry, I'll get into '59 sound next. I want to listen to Sink or Swim some more.

1930 is the tits. The '59 Sound is still my favorite of theirs, but I totally love Sink or Swim as well. American Slang is totally great as well but just a slight step below. The EP is a fantastic 10+ mins of music. Incredible band.

oh yeah MaLaKaS check out Senor And The Queen before you get to '59 Sound. it's incredible.

Blue Jeans & White T-Shirts might be their best tune.

It's drunkenly brought tears to my eyes, not ashamed to admit.

Here's Looking At You, Kid has done the same to me bud.

"And you can tell Jane, if she writes,
That I'm drunk off all these stars and all these crazy Hollywood nights.
And that's a total deceit, but she should've married me.
And tell her I spent every night of my youth on the floor,
Bleeding out from all these wounds.
I would've gotten her a ride out of that town she despised.
You tell that to Janey, if she writes."

hits real deep

Gaslight gives me such a nostalgic feeling. I love listening to them but I often find myself very melancholy when I do.

1930 is a great tune...enjoying those lyrics. I do like their hard hitting sound, but great lyrics on top of it.

didn't someone (in here maybe?) say brian wants the next album to be more aggressive?

boy i hope so. i love that they're evolving, but with the last two albums i was getting worried that they were going to dull their hard edge permanently. thankfully the itunes EP put some of that fear to rest, the guitars were nice and crunchy like on SoS and Senor, and State Of Love And Trust is a song in that vein as well.

I don't think they're as punk rock as you do. Sink or Swim, yes, but overall? I think that's just one piece of the puzzle. I hear punk, classic rock, even soul and r&b, and a whole bunch of other stuff in their sound.

I do think the Springsteen + Pearl Jam comp is apt, however.

And yes, there was a quote about the new album supposedly having a harder edge.

On the EP - Blue Jeans and Wherefore Art Thou Elvis are both OUTSTANDING.

Elvis is a big fave of mine

Walking in my old man shoes with my scientist heart
Got a fever and a beaker an a shot in the dark
I need a Cadillac ride I need a soft summer night
Say a prayer for my soul señorita

Wow
