Doesn't it?

I'm seeing Hereditary tomorrow, can't wait. I'm hearing Collette is an early Oscar contender. I'll report back!

Also, I saw Hotel Artemis last night. It was a fun time. Dave Bautista and Charlie Day steal the show.

Spoiler:

The scary moments were placed so well throughout leading up to the end. When she shuts the light off in her office and begins to walk out....I've never seen a more realistic capture of what you usually see in the shaddows, than when she saw her dead mother in the corner. The lighting of that figure against the black....I've never seen it done like that...so fucking creepy.

The film has really stuck with me. I agree completely about some of the imagery. I'm thrilled that horror has been so strong lately. The Witch, IT, The Conjuring series, Veronica, A Quiet Place, Get Out... It's a good time to be a fan of the genre.

It should be called Ocean's Convenience.

I still think the last truly great horror film I've seen is The Babadook.

Get Out was pretty good though.

Happy Death Day
Goodnight Mommy
Mom and Dad
The Conjuring
We Are Still Here (2015)
10 Cloverfield Lane

Get Out
1922
It
Hounds of Love
What We Do in the Shadows
Wer
Banshee Chapter
The Creature Below
A Cure for Wellness

Berlin Syndrome
Eat Me
Hush
Don't Breathe
Tusk
Horns
Oculus
The Guest
Housebound (2014)
Cheap Thrills
It Follows
The Void
The Autopsy of Jane Doe
The Invitation
Green Room
Raw (2016)
The Babadook
Green Inferno
Stoker
Bone Tomahawk
Krampus (2015)
The Eyes of My Mother
I Am Not a Serial Killer
The Boy (2015 w/ David Morse)
Cooties

The Snare
Jack Goes Home
Welcome to Willits
Better Watch Out (2016)

The Nightmare (a doc on sleep paralysis)

The list is partly memory, partly looking things up. A whack for sure, but yeah, there's been a glut of variety in the horror genre over the past few years. I still haven't seen It Comes at Night, Train to Busan, Hereditary or A Quiet Place.

I was going to add Thanatomorphose, but it's from 2012. It's a creepy indie about a young woman whose body begins to rot.

I think I'll watch It Comes at Night tonight.

Oh yeah, and I haven't seen mother! yet either.
