Eli Manning hosting next should be an epic catastrophe.

sometimes athlete hosted episodes end up being really strong. just depends on how much the dude wants to participate. half the time they're barely even in the episode and they focus extra hard on making the writing great.

it could definitely go the other way though.

Peyton was fantastic.

Michael Phelps was the worst fucking thing ever. Easily a bottom 5 host.

watching the 70's episodes on netflix has been a blast and really interesting. obvious time capsule references and sketch set ups aside, stuff like seeing the cast and Chevy Chase's animosity towards each other fester and become more apparent over time is cool to see. and i never thought much of Dan Aykroyd because all i ever knew of him was the 90's hack of my generation, but holy fuck i don't think anyone's been as sharp as that guy on the show since he left. he was just so fucking funny at everything he did. he reminds me of Bill Hader a lot, except he almost never broke character.

forgot to mention watching Bill Murray go from nervous mess to THE Bill Murray that we all love in a remarkably short time was great.

Oh yea, those are great. I have the first 5 seasons on DVD, but they've stopped making those sets and I don't think they were ever going to released the non-Lorne years, so my set would have been incomplete regardless.

But now with Netflix, I'm in heaven. I just hope they don't ever lose the rights.

i loved the fred garvin character, and point counterpoint. he's probably one of the best weekend update anchors they've had.

i was looking for the '95 DMB episode on demonoid for someone and found the entire season of the uncut 90 minute episodes. so i'm assuming all of the other seasons are out there which i'm happy about because i plan on continuing on after the 5th season.

"jane you ignorant slut" never not cracks me up.

i've decided Gilda Radner was the original Kristin Wiig. tons of talent, lots of bad character ideas.

6th season is regarded as the absolute worst... which should spark enough curiosity for you right there. It's incredibly interesting.

i can't help but mentally make the parallels as i'm watching old episodes and the current season:

Hader = Ayrkroyd
Wiig = Radner
Sudeikis = Murray

ok that's all i really got.

i wish i could find Elvis Costello's performances from the '77 Christmas show. the off the cuff abort of Less Than Zero then kicking into Radio Radio that got him banned is so fucking good. i've searched high and low to post here and can't find it anywhere.

Sucks if the rumors are true that Sudeikis and Wiig are leaving.

Does anyone remember when Wiig was on that Joe Schmo show with Rickety Cricket?
