Vampire Weekend

With all the crap thats out there sounding the same, these guys really provide a different sound, and I at least think its worth giving a listen too. I bought the cd on itunes last night, and I wasn't dissapointed, very unique tracks. Check em out if you haven't even heard of them.

I finally grabbed it from what the other day and posted it on o-ville if anyone is interested. I'm doing my best to turn everyone on to them. I like the CD. Then again, there is a new indie band that becomes the buzz band every month or so.

Has anyone here seen them or heard about their live performances? They are coming here to Denver in April I believe and was wondering how their shows were. I heard (and can believe it with only 1 cd) that they only play for 45 minutes or so. Would it still be worth the $15-20?

I would think so... They played philly recently but the shows were sold out and I missed it...

They have been playing a few new songs as well, sets apparently range from 11 songs with a 1 song encore.

Album's good and I found it pretty enjoyable the first couple listens. But come the 4th and 5th times through I was pretty bored and ready for it finish by the seventh track. "Oxford Comma," "Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa," and "Walcott" are the only tracks I would really consider listening to now.

Just got into them. Bought their second album and will get their first soon. Actually been listening to Graceland and a friend introduced me to this band. Love the similarities.

Self-titled album was their best, but Contra had its moments for sure too.

Saw them live... nothing too special, tbh. There's more to take from their studio tracks I'd say.

Songs are pretty good, I'm just not a fan of some of those vocal effects. Whatever, nitpicking.

My wife got me into these guys when we first started dating. We've been dying for them to go on tour, seeing them in May and we're both pretty excited about it.

They're amazing live, seen them several times back in the day (first album) as well as the Contra tour. Stymies me why they have been so sporadic with their tour dates though.

Yeah, i'm just hoping they feel 'inspired' and bring the same kind of energy, as this show is sandwiched in between the now two-weekend commitment to ACL.

They played last weekend, they'll play in Austin again this weekend.

I've only heard a couple of their hits.

1 album worth listening to?

For me, I tend to find myself listening to their first self-titled record. The back half of that thing is gold. Of course this is the album that got me 'into' them... I know ggies likes Contra more than their self-titled album; had started liking them with that release, against my wishes.

^ This sounds like it was ripped right off of the Graceland Paul Simon record.
