I mean, this just isn’t true, sadly. Listen to the reaction Come Tomorrow gets on that new d&t release. TGIY got a better reaction than Say Goodbye at my last show. It sucks, but it’s the way it is.

That hasn't been my experience in the pit. Y&M? sure. But not those other songs. Meanwhile, they start playing Pig and the place erupts. I think this fan base is starving for songs like that, and even borderline casuals know them.

Sioux Falls, SD - DMB Private Shows 10/18-20

I get that this is a situation for a greatest hits set. And not that THEY care about this, but it just reinforces that “this is all they are” while many impressive songs just get skipped over. I figure SOME of those audiences would be impressed to find out that DMB is more than “that ants song” and better than Can’t Stop/the like. And I’m not asking for a deep-trax set. Just have some more pride in your better work and maybe throw 1 or 2 in.

Again I ask, though: when you pay this much for a DMB appearance at a private party, do you get some say in the song choices?

I would think these are exactly the sets the company who paid them were expecting/hoping for.

Oh I agree, I’m just curious what the protocol is there.

That's the root of the problem, they don't know what their "better work" is.

But I do think they recognize which songs of theirs are rarely played, and I agree they should respect their audience enough to sprinkle those songs in, even at a festival/private event like this.

Do you honestly think Dave doesn't know what his best work is? He resents what he used to be because he can't do it anymore. He knows precisely what his most interesting work is. He can't write that anymore, so he justifies it by playing garbage to the Family night in night out. Jealous/resentful of himself.

I'm not sure. I think he is surrounded by enough "yes men" and they put out little more than a polished turd in Come Tomorrow and it lands another #1 for them.

I think the biggest gripe on the music the last 15 years has been lyrics. If Dave was self conscious about it why wouldn't he solicit help in his songwriting like he does other aspects of his performance (a vocal coach)?

I can think of a few songs that would be much more palatable if the lyrics didn't suck so badly (You and Me, That Girl Is You, The turkey song, Come Tomorrow, Can't Stop, and many others).

He's said BTCS is their best album, they know.

I think now they're approach has adapted with the situation they've found themselves in with all the Boyd stuff.

As someone who likes Come Tomorrow, I'm genuinely looking forward to an album with this lineup from the jump rather than piecing it all together.

I'm not a rich/famous artist but I have a hard time Dave feels anything remotely close to what you're posting here.

I had Come Tomorrow on in a car I was driving over the weekend.

I like
Samurai Cop
Virginia in the Rain
Again and Again

Meh but kind of ok?
Can't Stop
Here On Out (Doesn't sound like a DMB tune)
She
Idea Of You (the live intro is stupid)
Black and Bluebird
When I'm Weary (Doesn't sound like a DMB tune)

Turd
TGIY
Turkey Song
Come on Come On
Come Tomorrow
Do You Remember (do not like the yips or his vocals on it)

Not great.

The live intro on IOY is definitely stupid. Completely pointless.

Album is as close to a DM solo album as weíve got since Some Devil. If he genuinely wants to get back in the studio with this band, letís hope itís a band record. Come Tomorrow is a weak, chopped up Dave solo album.

Hearing after the fact that they literally went to YouTube and ripped the audio from a tour warm up video for it was priceless.

That goes to show you how disjointed that album was to put together. For Batson (or whoever) to not have the current lineup come together to lay down the intro to splice into the rest of the song is pretty crazy, to me.

That's why I'm looking forward to the next one. I'd prefer Batson not be involved, but I more than anything I just want to hear this group make an album together from start to finish.

Batson, Buddy, Rashawn and Dave.. scary combo. None of us want it but itís extremely plausible. Right the wrong of Stand Up with a better version of lousy produced funk music. Thatís cynical, I know, but sadly really possible.

Unpopular opinion, and it would not happen, but I would definitely welcome them re-imagining Stand Up with the current lineup and how the songs have evolved over the years. Keep Batson on it but come up with new arrangements, instruments, etc for each of the songs on the album. They all have evolved so much in the live setting.
