If none are opposed, I’ll get my pick up on Monday morning.

Btw, I've listened to Dream Song probably about 15 times the past few days. It's amazing. I really like the chilled out version on Live in London also. Worth checking that out. Will definitely be a part of my "Soundtrack of 2019."

honeyhoney- “Billy Jack”

First stumbled upon this duo opening for Lifehouse and Matt Nathanson over a decade ago. From the first song, I was blown away by the songs and Suzanne’s voice and just had to hear more. I’m glad I caught them because I went for Nathanson and left before Lifehouse started. This record gets frequent play on my turntable and in the car. They’ve been featured on the TBS series “The Guest Book” as the “house band.”

Nice! I have their Loose Boots EP and really like it, but for whatever reason lost track of the band after that. Looking forward to listening to this one.

I like this, though it's not necessarily my style. I listened to the first song and got halfway through the second, and stopped it so I could restart it when my wife got home. It's definitely her style. I think Let's Get Wrecked is favorite as of right now.

I loved that EP and I think this sounds much better and the songwriting has really been cleaned up. This one's my favorite of theirs.

Makes sense. My favorite is 'I Don't Mind.' Just so damn catchy. Gonna have to get your wife's thoughts, too!

You weren't kidding. This is a really great album. Great song writing, great production, and that voice is so good. Definitely will be revisiting this (and their other stuff as well)

Welcome. The most recent submission is right above here, and there’s a list of everything we’ve done so far in the first post. If you’re going to regularly contribute, you can have the next pick before we start the new rotation.

I should probably also mention that since I still have no power and no idea when I might, it’s possible that I’m going to miss this week’s listen. I’m still going to listen to it, but it might be into next week the way this is going.

Great pick on this one. I had never heard of this group before, but will definitely check out more of their stuff after this. I'm gonna have to give this one some more spins to figure out my favorites, but after 1 listen, there's nothing I dislike on it.

Absolutely, they're great all-around, even the songwriting. Their latest release is kind of a soundtrack, of sorts, for the TBS series 'The Guest Book.' It's got some fantastic covers on it: [Only registered users can see links.]

I offered it to Malakas, but then he never came back. It should otherwise be me, but I’m still behind from my mess last week, plus I’ve already got an extra pick on everyone else, so why don’t we skip me this round and say that it’s blumathu. Is that cool with everyone?

"The Monitor" by Titus Andronicus (2010)

Recently revisited this for the first time in a couple of years. An energetic and frenetic mix of punk and indie rock, I've always taken to the raw energy and wacky lyrics of frontman Patrick Stickles. To me it is easily the band's most complete album and is unique thanks to it being a concept album loosely based on themes relating to the American Civil War. The album title is a reference to the USS Monitor, the first ironclad warship commissioned by the United States Navy, and the closing track, "The Battle of Hampton Roads", refers to the battle between the Monitor and the CSS Virginia, which took place on March 8–9, 1862. There are little interludes of historical spoken word bits between songs that weave a connecting thread through the album. I think the band can be abrasive and polarizing, so I'm curious to see everybody's thoughts if you have not heard this particular record. The opening track is one of my favorite rock songs of the decade. You should be able to find this on all major streaming platforms. Enjoy!
