If true and he will be guesting for multiple shows, I would be thrilled. I love his tone and improvisational chops.

Requested Nashville and Dallas. Always a blast to see friends and get away for a day or 2.

I haven’t been to a show since the Texas run in 2015 (did all three shows) but i definitely still have songs I’m chasing that make the thrill of going to a show fun. Plus being with friends and listening to good music. I just don’t feel like traveling more than 2 hours for them, when I would drive ten or fly back in the day. That part has changed for sure. I have got back into listening to more current full shows from 2018. And their definitely have been some good performances but some of that magic we are really never getting back. No matter who they bring on that stage now.

Noooo, DMB shouldn't, Dave did a great job with Some Devil. Let's pivot back to the band now. I guess people don't care about what made the band unique anymore....even the original band members don't.....otherwise they would get a violin player just like they got a sax player and piano player......

Sorry, don't mean to be a dick, just wanted to see why people still wanted to go see this band at this point, especially since the new material is mediocre.

I just can't do it. It's like seeing a version, of a version, of a version, just so you can say you went to a DMB show.....

I don’t think that’s fair. I don’t think there’s a single person on this board who thinks
this is vintage dmb. Or prime dmb. Or whatever you want to call it. Most of us were lucky to see them back when Boyd was competent, Leroi was alive and Dave had a fire to take on the world.

Bands change and evolve. Most people here talk about 3.0 and 4.0. We go back and listen to classic shows. But I still get a big smile when warehouse or typical fires up. It’s not like it used to be - not even close - but it’s still fun to see the shows and hear the songs. We have the tapes and memories of what made DMB one of the best bands of their era. Most of us have tempered expectations but still get joy from it. I understand why you might not dig it anymore, but I’d think you could see why some people still do.

They do evolve and DMB has, but now it's just a different band. But I get what you mean when you describe it that way....I've lost that and makes me sad. Glad you haven't

If DMB stayed the same forever, it would've gotten boring long ago. A number of songs in 2018 were more interesting and refreshing to me than they have been in years. Bartender, #41, Nancies, Everyday, LITHOG, Billies, Watchtower, Crush, Typical, just to name a few.
Their overall sound isn't as unique compared to other bands anymore. But compared to themselves, the change is refreshing. The songs themselves are more unique now than the same songs were the last several years, just by nature of them being different. You could argue different doesn't equal good, but for me, I'd rather hear refreshed takes on a bunch of songs than the same old performances year after year. Hope that made sense.

thanks for posting the Gorge video - had no idea who Hamilton was, but that Grace and Last Stop is some of the best stuff I've heard from the band in years. The band thrives on that banjo/mando sound...

If you hadn't heard of him until just now, check out the Two Step he played with Dave & Tim on the 2017 tour.

Being that I had to skip SPAC last year, I’m really looking forward to getting back there again this year.

It's at least the best performance from last year.

By the way, we get an awesome SPAC crew together each year. If anyone wants to meet up with us this summer, just shoot me a PM.

This is replying to stuff from a few days ago but I actually am enjoying the current rotation more than I did 2.0 and I had an absolute blast in 2018 more than I have since probably 2012. I think part of it might have been a break I took for a few years where they dropped down pretty far in my listening rotation. Gave me some real perspective coming back and I was "surprised" left and right last year at just about every show I hit up so my "hype" for 2019 is probably at an all time high.

Hope to get to meet more of you on the road this year. Philly and PNC were a ton of fun partially because of getting to see a lot of you folks.

My semi final list looks like this for the tour:

Pensacola, Jacksonville
Camden N1 (N2 conflicts with DCFC), Bethel
SPAC (1/2), Jones (Mom & Dad!)
Gorge (1/2/3 - Life Goal right there)

Been away from DMB for awhile. Glad they are making a stop back in Des Moines this spring/summer so it's easy to hit a show.
