True, we also have the issue of low salary in comparison to the home values...I'm lucky I bought in 2007...was underwater for about 4 years on it. Now I'm in a good spot.

Whoa, I almost moved there before settling here! I looked at that place and then this place.

I didnít know he lived here. Just Googled him and he looks familiar so Iíve probably seen him walking around. Iíve wondered if some Nuggets or Broncos live here because there are some really tall athletic looking bros kicking around the common areas a lot who donít seem overly bright but can probably throw or catch a football pretty well.

These cities are barely cheaper than NYC. You could also buy a house in Brooklyn or Queens for a similar price as what Iíve seen in Denver. Iíve seen basic basic houses going for north of $1M in Denver

Dude, youíre not kidding. Iíve seen 900 sq ft bungalows, 2br 1ba, that need probably $50K in repairs, going for like $700k just because theyíre in neighborhoods with decent nightlife. Itís insane, especially for a town where the average salary is like $55k or something like that.

The building you are in looks awesome.

I've seen Freeland walking around the neighborhood with his gf (you probably noticed her) and dog. I actually called some of his games in college vs the team I worked for in grad school. He seems like a good enough guy.

I've seen some athletes over the years at that King Soopers at 20th/Chestnut. I figured most have moved to shopping at Whole Foods now.

Itís great, but I pay $2K month for 600 square feet.

It made sense for me because I fly for work and wanted to be close to Union. Plus, I was paying as much to live next to DU before moving here. Apparently rentals are the only thing right now where demand is no longer meeting supply, so rents should at least remain fairly steady for a while.

Honestly I don’t notice any particular good looking girls because they’re all really good looking down here and, for the most part, wayyyyy out of my league (and they know it).

They’ve got people like Rockies players, olympians, California trust fund kids, and investors all over them, which makes a guy that works in IT not all that interesting.

Josh, you seem to like living in Denver and can afford it, so just enjoy it for now. Youíre young and single, just enjoy it and when itís time for a change youíll know.

Also, owning real estate as an investment is good if you buy the right property at the right time, but it can also be a big hassle.

Yes, I'll charge you at my normal hourly rate minus a 1% TDC+ discount.

Donít buy in Denver. If you can only get 2-3 more years out of your job, youíll still be underwater on your mortgage if you wanted to sell and move at that time. Everything out west is crazy expensive right now. Iíd just wait to see where your job takes you in two years and make a decision at that point. Thereís a greater supply of rentals right now than homes, so I donít see rents skyrocketing in the short term. Housing supply however is at all time lows which is why prices donít make sense in relation to wages.

Josh, while I absolutely love Denver as well (hell, I'm a longtime die hard Broncos fan), I don't like the cost of living there at the moment. Could you buy a home outside of the city, but be close enough to drive into there anytime you want? Maybe all of the surrounding areas are expensive as hell. I'm not sure to be honest. Just trying to help you out with a suggestion.

Suburbs are cheaper (definitely) but most of the front range is out of control.

There's simply not enough housing.

And it's not like there is an awesome (it's ok at best) local transit system so you could buy in a decent suburb and then train into work.

It's not a great time to be looking to buy here, unless you got a ton of cash.

There is a new house being built right across the street from me. For the past two days the drywall mud guy is very clearly on something. He screams every 30 seconds or so, throws things, hits himself, has weird violent looking outbursts where he shakes his whole body. And on the rare occasion that he's not doing those things he sings Highway to Hell at the top of his lungs.

I normally don't like to get involved but he was there until 8:30 last night and so I pretty much have to keep the kids in the house all evening, which sucks. He just showed up at 2 PM I expect he'll be doing it again tonight.

There are other people working on the house, what must be going through their heads? They leave at a decent hour though.

I called the builder this morning to complain, left a voicemail.

The advice I need... do I call the Sheriff tonight while he's alone again and doing his crazy shit? I hate to get involved especially if he figures out I'm the one that called. I imagine he won't be there too long... maybe a week more? I could just wait it out.

I would just ignore it. This doesn't sound like the type of person you want to figure out that you were the one who called to get him in trouble. Especially with the guy knowing were you live.

That's what my wife wants to do to, so that's probably what we'll do. Everyone but him just left and he went to the car to take another dose of whatever drug he's on. He's starting to get real crazy now. Time to lock up.

That’s fucked up. You can’t be the only neighbor experiencing this tho, right?

Yeah, I have talked to two neighbors and they are concerned as well. Two of us have called the builder anonymously at this point.

The guy did leave by 6:30 last night, so that's something.
