And to be even pickier, I'd say 89 is when he started getting his groove back.

1988 w/ Reg Strikes Back. But every one of his albums from A Single Man until then have some good-to-great songs them. Especially The Fox and Too Low for Zero.

Except that awful Victim of Love from 1979. What was he thinking with a disco album? Christ, he doesn't even play on it. Ugh.

I mean, I think stuff like I'm Still Standing, Blue Eyes, Empty Garden, I Guess That's Why They Call It the Blues, Sad Songs, I Don't Wanna Go on with You Like That, Club at the End of the Street, Sacrifice and The One are all well and good....but this isn't the Official 'Those Years between 1977 and 1991 Where Elton John Was All Coked Up and on Death's Doorstep and wouldn't know a hit if it bit him on the ass' Thread

Slow day had me scrolling through nDMBc threads...

The title of this thing alone makes it a 'best of' in the nDMBc ranks... I somehow hadn't seen it until just now.

I support the thread content too though.

Damn, that's a nice set.

Unfortunately there's nothing from his 2000-2006 output. There's some great songs on those albums.

9 songs from Goodbye Yellow Brick Road! It's 40 years old this year.
