Gotta love old school Elton. His catalog was remastered on SACD several years back and they sound simply amazing.

You should change the thread title though. Most people, including myself, consider "classic Elton" to be his first 11 albums, or from 1969-1976. Besides the hits, the 80's pretty much sucked as far as Elton goes, but I do like his 90's and 2000's stuff.

wait, so by your own admission doesn't his thread title cover exactly that period that's "classic"?

Well, not the whole period, that's my point. It's actually from the late sixties to mid seventies. I'm being picky, I know. It's not a huge thing, was just saying.

it's technically one year before the actual 1970's and arguably one year after what could be considered "early 1970's. who gives a fuck

don't be a bitch, brian.

Ok, fine. Let's not derail the thread. Did you hear that they're making an Elton biopic and Tom Hardy is in talks to play Elton?

I did. I'm sure he'd do well, but he should stick to doing badass roles for awhile.

Meh, I'd like to see him stretch. After seeing Bronson (thanks for the recommendation, by the way) I believe he could pull off pretty much anything.

He can, but I find him most fun intimidating people. He stole the show in Lawless.

I've heard pretty much everything officially released by EJ (and plenty unreleased).

I love Elton John's music. But I love Bernie Taupin's lyrics almost as much.

Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy is my favourite 70's album by them.

I'm just glad it's cool to like EJ, nowadays. IDK about where you guys grew up, but when I was getting into him in the early 90's, if you said you liked Elton John 9 out of 10 kids would say "You mean that fag that did the Lion King music?", which always pissed me off.

Yeah, I got into his stuff when I was 11 or 12 or so....started with my grandmother buying me his first Greatest Hits album, then I bought 'Here & There' (which features John Lennon's last ever live performance, fun fact).....then 'Made in England' came out......and from there, I was hooked.
