But that's exactly it... I don't have to compromise, because at that point its not worth my time. I'd rather watch a great 2 hour movie. It just doesn't make sense to me.

If I'm gonna commit to a few seasons of a television show, I have to naturally enjoy it... I'm not gonna work on liking it more.

it's not work, you just check your brain at the door regarding those issues from the get go.

it's like with something like Crank. the most unrealistic movies in the world, going into it i just say "this is what it is" and enjoy it for that.

I accepted the lack of realism the first time they drove from downtown LA to the north Valley in the time span of a commercial break. And I can handle the Jack storyline being completely over-the-top. But....

Spoiler:

(not sure if we need spoiler tags here, but just in case...)
The daughter getting kidnapped by a guy who she then develops a crush on, worrying about him while trying to escape from terrorists, then calling him from a safe house, then going to his house after her car blew up, then getting kidnapped again seems a bit too far-fetched for me. And the mom being pregnant, losing her memory and all that was too much also. They could have cut those storylines down a bit and made it somewhat more believable without losing any excitement.

Separate topic -- Ed was a great show! Is Northern Exposure available for streaming? It had a similar feel to Ed and is my favorite television show ever.

the traveling across LA thing is just something that you kind of have to deal with. i won't spoiler the rest, don't think it's necessary. but yeah, i agree all of that stuff with Kim and her Mom is ridiculous. they're by far the most problematic characters on the show, but it's something they cut down with over time. except for one big thing in the 2nd season that has become a punchline regarding the show, but you're not there yet

kim in general is just awful
