I didn't expect this thread to be flamed on. I was just making a thread b/c I was getting into the counting crows 10 years to late.

August and Everything After is a great album. They unfortunately never matched its quality since in my opinion.

Fuck all the haters man. I've enjoyed them for a long time. They have their ups and downs but I've always had a good time seeing them live. If people want to hate its because they have nothing better to do.

I lived/grew up in Lowell, Ma. I used to go to the Pheasant Lane Mall all the time. Right on Daniel Webster HW

Revisiting this....the back read is rough on my end.

The last album, Somewhere Under Wonderland was amazing and it seems that Adam has found the right combination of mood stabilizers this decade.

Did you guys see they recorded the song 'August and Everything After' with an orchestra and released it today as an Amazon Music exclusive? Bad ass.

I like Counting Crows and yeah, Somewhere Under Wonderland a few years ago was great. I didn't even know about this thread, but I know we've discussed that elsewhere.

Also, I got married in '94 and August & Everything After will always remind me of that summer.

Man, I turned 9 in the summer of 1994. NINE.

August and Everything After was one of the first CDs I'd ever owned. It was just as they were blowing up in the mainstream as a band and it was the first time I felt like I listened to a band I liked and nobody else knew about (not my parents, etc.)

Man, back reading this thread makes me wonder why the hell I was so angry at Adam Duritz in 2009.

August and Everything After was the soundtrack to the summer after my freshman year of high school. My first (unrequited) love, solidifying that group of high school friends that stayed tight for years, no real responsibilities yet. Great memories attached to that one.

I used to listen to them a fair amount back in the day... less and less as the years went by. Decided to go see them at PNC last summer when they were touring with Live.

Kind of a weak show, might have been my least favorite of 2018 until Garbage rolled in and not only sounded awful but the fans were annoying and I was burned out. I remember leaving the Crows show with my friend and both of us just had a resounding meh that happened to their set, whereas Live tore the place down as the opener.

August & Everything After will forever be an amazing album thats locked in time for me.

My wife is a big Counting Crows fan and we went to the Riverbend show as a birthday present. I thought the show was okay. I didn't think Adam sounded great, but it wasn't horrible either. It was a nice night and she had a blast which made it worth it.

You're right though, Live tore the place apart. I'm a fan (mostly of Throwing Copper, honestly) and was excited to see them, but was not expecting such a powerful show.

Saw them two years ago opening for matchbox twenty in Hershey, they had a great set but for some reason it was the shortest of the tour and the only show where they didn't play Palisades Park, which was one of the only songs I wanted to hear. Just weird.

I've seen them a few times the last few years actually. They don't seem to stop touring. They do a pretty good job varying the setlists a bit too.
But I'll say this. The 2018 show I saw in Toronto - awesome setlist - but Adam was not putting his all into it, and his voice wasn't great.

But most of all this:
For Christ's sake, they've been repeating the same fucking encore for 5+ years in a damn row now.
Palisades Park / Rain King / Holiday in Spain.
A fine encore, but good god, ENOUGH! 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018 - every time, same friggin' encore.

AND, Holiday in Spain can die in a fire. That song has been closing encores for like 20 years now. So done with it.
