Nice! That was legit one of the only places we didn't hit (also weren't able to see the Cardinals stadium in Glendale).

My favorite summation of life in Arizona goes like this. My wife did her student teaching in Arizona, and when I drove her out there we had one day together to do some sightseeing. So in that one day we toured the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, climbed to the rim of an extinct volcano, watched the sun set while sitting on 1000 year old Native American ruins, then ate Thai food in an 80 year old grand hotel. And we weren't rushing around to do it. The density of incredible things to do is that high out there.

Well that is great news. Of course, 2 days after I buy the airline tickets I get called for a tour that overlaps my tickets by 36 hrs. I spent the weekend trying to bump flights and condense our plans.

Ah, that sucks. Have you figured out how to make it work?

So awesome!

That's where we hit, the South Rim which when I say it, makes me feel dirty.

I took the gig today. No brainer. After obtaining more details, the change-fees are minuscule. However, I will be flying almost exclusively Southwest from now on, especially if i'm going to keep taking this kind of work.

I think I'm headed to Portugal this summer. Lots of people have been going there recently, so I have to check it out.

Japan was awesome, btw. I recommend everybody goes

Which airline are you flying? I was going to go in May (I'm Portuguese and have wanted to go my whole life) and I had flights with Sata booked that got cancelled twice. Hopefully you're booked with TAP or another more reputable airline. Sata blows!

Gonna try to go back in September.

I didn't end up booking, I still might. I'd probably fly AA cuz I have miles with them. I'm itching to go back to Japan - Osaka and Kyoto this time. I might do that January-ish

Took a little breather around the holiday and spend a few days in Seattle, then up to an island near Canada for a wedding.

The pacific northwest is really incredible. Seattle is an amazing city. You have ocean, mountains, and amazing forests all in one area. The city population is about the same as Denver, but it is a much more diverse city. Felt more urban and like there was more energy than here.

I love Colorado, but might have to keep an eye on potential jobs in Seattle down the road.

The wedding was on this tiny island and was a lesbian quaker wedding. A first for me, but really cool.

Anyone ever live in or near Seattle?

Yep! Up on Guemes Island. Really beautiful.

We have nothing resembling water in Colorado. It was refreshing to say the least!

Sounds like we may be in the same boat about CO right now. I love it, but I'm starting to keep my eyes open for opportunities in other places and am more open to possibly leaving than I was a year ago.

I looked at jobs in my industry last night on Glassdoor, and what they pay in Denver. They all paid like 10% less than what I made in Manchester, New Hampshire years ago. The pay scales are getting depressing. What made it all the more depressing was I spent the 4th at a friend's new house in Sunnyside. He paid $450K for it and it was TINY. I mean, the whole living room, dining room, and kitchen were maybe 400 combined square feet. And the house needs a lot of work.

I couldn't imagine getting that little house for that much money while making less for the same job I did when I lived in New Freakin' Hampshire.

I hear ya.

My preference is to stick around here as long as possible. I work in higher education, but that often requires a move for a promotion. If so, my eyes will be on the northwest. I'm definitely not moving to the south

Sunnyside is interesting but home prices are insane. I'm over by the ballpark with a lease up in in August. Highlands/LoHi is my preference, but possibly out of the price range.

My girlfriend's family owns some land in Boulder County (Niwot). Would love to eventually end up there - but I want to live in the city for at least another decade or so.

I currently rent in LoHi and when I search for real estate I don't even bother looking in this neighborhood anymore. Anything that's a standalone and 2br is going to start at $600-$700k. If it's less than that it will need a lot of work, which will still bring the purchase price + reno to $600k+.

I read recently that there are more realtors in Denver than real estate listings. I'm thinking this market is over-saturated, which has me terrified to buy.

Where do you live over in LoDo? My girlfriend lives a block from Coors Field.

Those Denver real estate prices are just shocking. Those are almost the same prices as houses in Queens, Brooklyn, etc. I'm probably waiting until this bubble bursts before I buy anything. There are Wall St funds that are buying houses, that seems like the height of exuberance
