Pretty sure Dave said it happened in 2017. Said their families were very close.

Every time I read a try-hard article like that, where someone is trying to show off their linguistic prowess more than deliver any semblance of effective communication, I wonder to myself, “How often did this douche right-click on words in Word to find overly-pretentious synonyms?”

more often than not, albums named identically after one song's name are bad. Listening now.

on This Girl is You. This sounds like a Dave solo album so far.

edit: She is pretty rockin'

IOY sounds like a Blue Merle song. Boyd is totally absent on this album so far. I wonder if they knew he'd be gone.

I listened to CT again last night and AFTW this morning. The differences in production are just insane, Lillywhite truly is the only one who knows how to get the best out of this band and utilize each person.

My other big takeaway was that it just feels kind of forced, while CT seems like the band/Dave had fun making it. It's a more enjoyable listen. Maybe that's why some of the AFTW tunes didn't translate as well live.

AFTW has a great start and finish, while CT is the opposite and has a tremendous middle.

I agree with a lot of this, production wise Lillywhite just gets this band. I still prefer AFTW over CT, but CT does have a uniqueness to it and a a good middle stretch.

Virginia in the Rain is really good. I didn't like it live.

I like Black and Blue Bird a lot more than live.

Come On Come On is pretty.

I haven't heard Blue Merle in years! I dug their album for a while.
