Doesn't touch SE for me, but it's really solid. I think the quieter songs are really strong. The "rockers" mostly miss for me. I want to like Anxiety but it just trudges along. I'd put it third after Southeastern and Something More Than Free, but better than his other 3.

Really loving Tupelo, Chaos and Clothes, Last of my Kind, and Vampires.

I agree about Anxiety. That song is a big gaping hole in the middle of an otherwise universally great album. It just feels underwritten to me. Even still, this one destroys Something More Than Free for me.

I continually like it more and more with each listen. I can't put it ahead of Southeastern, but I it's not far behind and right now I can't stop listening to it. I finding that I like songs more and more, like Molotov, but I really enjoy Vampires, Tupelo, Last of My Kind, and pretty much every song. The only song that just hasn't taken off for me completely is Anxiety. Honestly, the intro and outro is awesome, it just feels like the actual song doesn't fit those two parts real well.

Anxiety is a great riff wrapped around an aimless song that's needlessly stretched to 7 mins. Thought it was a very poor opener when I saw him live. Otherwise I really enjoy the album. It didn't floor me like I was hoping but I'd put it above SMTF.

Surprised to hear your guys' unanimous take on Anxiety. I like that song a lot. Plus, lyrically it really touches me b/c I went thru some shit a few years ago and he really nails it. Sounds like I could of written it at that time (if I had any talent). Speaking of lyrics, If We Were Vampires is amazing.

I need to go back to some of his other albums. Southeastern and Sirens of the Ditch are the other 2 that I enjoyed most. Wasn't a big fan of Something More Than Free, but maybe I'll revisit now.

I think the lyrics to Anxiety are powerful, I really do. It's a song that I think is just in pieces, but that doesn't mean I don't like the song. To me it speaks how good this album really is that I find myself completely into others more, because I do think it's a good song.

I think it just seems like he tried to write a Children of Children song that would be a big live centerpiece and it falls a little flat for me. Lyrically it's solid but overly repetitive for him.

If It Takes a Lifetime, Children of Children, Speed Trap Town, and Palmetto Rose are the standouts for me.

And I really like the lyrics to Anxiety - it resonates for sure. But it feels clunky. And some reviewer said the melody is like "yesterday" and now I can't not hear it

I think Something More Than Free is deeply underrated because of how good Southeastern is.

Yeah, that could certainly be it in my case. I'm gonna listen to it again now that I'm more into him now. I started listening thru the albums chronologically, I'm on Here We Rest now.

Detroit police recently released pictures from the scene of Chris Cornell's death. Nothing gruesome per se. But it certainly looks deliberate on his part. This particular photo is quite sad.

There should be no debate, you need to do it.
