Opener and closer are the weakest tracks and they're pretty good.

Spinners, Big Cig, and On With The Business are early favorites.

Hoping my local record store has the vinyl Friday.

Runner's High is the only song that hasn't really grabbed me all that much yet

A less than stellar closer? Say it ain't so.

I'd be curious to see all of your top 10Hold Steady songs. Hard list to make....

Mine would be littered with their album closers.....

I have to disagree with Vincent on that one. I think Oaks is fantastic, the ending coda is 4 minutes of beauty imo

Oaks - does it rock, or is it slow?

Slower song. Guitars have a bit of that creepy foreboding sound aka One for the Cutters and A Slight Discomfort. There's a good crescendo in the middle and then an uplifting sounding coda for the last 4-5 minutes with some guitar soloing over the progression

FYI, 7 of the 10 songs rock while the other 3 are slow. They all have really nice guitar work too

My local record store got the CDs today, but vinyl appears delayed.

1000% better than the streams. Some really sweet, layered guitar work.

I retract my sentiment on Oaks and replace it with The Ambassador.

Non-transcode finally leaked to the question mark a couple hours ago.

If somebody can share the 3 bonus tracks once they are acquired I would truly appreciate it.

Okay so I'm finally back in town and listened to this the first time through.

Man, I don't know. First listen, to me, it's just HiW redux.

I still miss the keys, and the "whoa-oh's" and the catchiness and melodies of their first 4 albums.

In parts it definitely reminds me of the Finn solo album, particularly the chorus of Big Cig ("I serve my purpose") and The Ambassador.

The guitars are excellent, I just don't think Finn is writing catchy melodies anymore.

I fully acknowledge that I will like it more once I've given it 5-10 listens, and much like HiW, I think these songs will be much better live. I know Spinners is, from seeing it on TV.

These dudes are playing a glorified bar here on friday. Might have to go. Surprised that's the best they could do. And that it's not sold out.

Very good, I honestly knew next to nothing about them but I was impressed. The singer is married to Vanessa Carlton and she came out and did a duet with him during their set. That was a major "what the fuck?" moment for me.

I don't know much about them either. I guess I could check them out on Spotify.

It was great. A good barometer is that it fit right in with the old stuff perfectly. Big Cig particularly rocked hard. They go right into The Only Thing after Sweet Part (same tuning) and it works really well. Spinners/Ambassador was nice too. I feel like they elevated the material a lot in the live setting.
