production wise HiW was great. Stay Positive and especially Boys & Girls sound like butthole

"tad muddy in parts" is hilariously understated

I really don't mind B&G or SP. I think HiW had very annoying production. The drums sounded so cheap, and it just had this really lame 80s vibe to it. It was way too clean for THS

it was supposed to have an 80's vibe. they basically wrote 80's anthems.

Well fine, but it just didn't work. On many levels

EDIT: Not trying to be abrasive. I just was really disappointed in that record. Really looking forward to the new one.

at least you can hear what's going on in that record. Same Kooks is just a wall of sludge.

good way to describe it. That's one of the tracks I can definitely agree suffers. The Positive Rage version is much more representative. Not really a favorite of mine overall honestly, but still a good tune.

You never know how much input a producer has in the songwriting, perhaps Agnello can help hone their songwriting back to BaGiA and Stay Positive-era levels of quality.

"the scratches on my back they formed into a choir and belted out a chorus full of clicks and hisses"

My biggest problem with Boys & Girls production is that it is almost impossible to hear the vocals . . . given that lyrics are a big part of what makes the band great this needs to be corrected if they are going back to that producer.

Have to agree with Spence here.

Anyone with vinyl care to share their opinion? I only have digital.

Superchunk is also on that Times Square show. I thought about it for 10 seconds.

Noon in NCY, temps 100+, criminals and hipsters, F that.

It'll be like 110 with the humidity factor with blazing sun beating down on ya. I love seeing live music, but even I have my limits. Plus it's always hotter in the city.
