I finished the 'Long strange trip" documentary and it was fantastic stuff, and surprisingly very emotional especially towards the end. I felt like it was a very honest documentary and It definitely had a dark spin to it.
I got chill bumps several times through the whole documentary. Goh, that was some amazing shit and its something ill probably watch many many times. |

My next pick would be 1/25/79. A really hot show with very little time left for Keith. Years back it was known this wasn't in the vault, but potentially recently returned. Next box should be Summer '73 An FYI that a new, complete, mono board of 10/30/80 RCMH hit circulation today. First full sbd of that show |

![]() I'm in a mid-80's phase right now. Speaking of which, two stands that would make nice releases are the Greek 7/13 and 7/14 '84 and MPP 6/30 and 7/1 '85. (6/30/85 Set 2 was one of my prized SBD tapes in the 80's). The boards we have are real good (but like I've said, that's not a factor in what he's been releasing). But yeah, I said it here a few weeks ago, Summer '73 needs some love too. |

Got my Dave’s Pick today. Exciting. I didn’t even get a shipping notification. Just showed up on my door.

Fun listen so far. First set is pretty standard fare for '72. I was initially worried that Kieth's piano would be nonexistent. You can't even hear him on Cold Rain and Snow. Thankfully his volume increases, but he's still a little too low, imo. This Bird Song is nice. '72 Bird Songs are wonderful.

Listening to Set 2 of this one tonight. 20 year-old Mitch, with the help of some good ol' LSD, lost his fucking mind during this scary Dark Star. Seemed to be a pretty common experience that night based on those I spoke to after, some of who left the Arena during it

3/24/90 Albany is one of the very best Dead shows that didn't occur in the 70's. It's kinda irritating that the official release of it is scattered amongst a few different releases. Should have released the whole thing in it's entirety along with all the others in the Spring '90 box sets, its the best one of the tour!
Anyway, at least the second set in its entirety is on Dozin' at the Knick. I know I mention that one here every once in awhile, but if you're not familiar with it, get on it, it's on Spotify and all that. |

Watched the doc yesterday. Enjoyed it all, but thought the Dead Heads part was best.

Got the Dead Live ‘91, Pine Knob, on the iPod for work. Bruce’s piano sounds so good. His playing is so energetic and up beat.

RFK '89 box is out today, and it's on Spotify, etc, too.. The sound is great. Not the best shows that month (Alpine), and I would have preferred my Giants Stadium shows getting this treatment, but any multitrack '89 Dead is always welcome!

It’s partially the reason I’m not as huge on 77 as some others. It seems to just lack that “anything can happen” vibe and the raw energy and power that 69-74 has. 77 onward sounds more “rehearsed” to me—- which has its benefits but also kind of makes it less intense.

Yes, Without A Net and Dozin’ are the first 2 releases to check out for a good taste of Fall 89 - Spring 90. But the summer 89 releases, like the new RFK one, are great too and right when they began tinkering with MIDI, so it’s not as widespread as it became in the fall and beyond.
I love late 80’s Dead, but I experienced it, so I have a different draw to it. Whether you like it by purely comparing it to other entirely different eras is up to you. |

How’s Brent on this new 89 set? My biggest complaint with the Spring 90 Other One set is that he’s entirely too damn loud.
