A very nice Scarlet > Fire from 29 years ago today.

On a related note, I hope the next Dave's release is a Brent-era show. '88, for instance, could use a little more love.

We shouldn't be too far from an announcement, yes? Don't they usually ship out the third set in July/August?

Bobby singing way too much this set. He seemed very confused going into I Meed A Miracle. I was really hoping he'd take a breath and let mayer sing Wharf Rat after that.

I will say bob has a lost some decent weight. Watching Brown Eyed Woman from Shoreline last year, and he has lost the entire beer tire. Well done. Not easy at that age.

I'm not the biggest Dead fan, but when China Cat Sunflower >> I Know You Rider from 3/24/73 Philly Spectrum came on the SiriusXM Dead channel, I was getting down on my ride into work yesterday.

Yeah I still don't get why he feels the need to sing so many Jerry songs. It'd be nice to hear Oteil sing some more lead too, he's pretty good. I get that you want to ease Mayer's role into the band, but at this point, the fanbase is practically begging Mayer to handle the Jerry tunes.

22 years ago today was the real Fare Thee Well. Even though it's been great having all the various iterations and facsimiles since then, the Grateful Dead ended on July 9, 1995. Fitting that Black Muddy River was the last song Jerry sang.

Was that Black Muddy River release one something? Or was it the Box of Rain? Like some GD50 7" that had like the first song they ever played and the last? Or am I crazy?

As far as I know, the 2 tracks released from that show are the So Many Roads as the final song on the So Many Roads compilation, and Box of Rain on the bonus disc that came with Phil's book.

Heavy rumors of 1/3/70, 6/17/91, or a Fillmore East show with guests that had some legal snafus

2/11/70?? That would be nice.

Otherwise I could do without another early 1970 or a Welnick-era show. Really would like an 87-90 show.

I do think the 1/3/70 would be a bit overkill and 1970 is probably my favorite year. I just don't find Jan and Feb as compelling as the rest of the year.

I could humor a 91 show. I sometimes wonder what Hornsby could have done with a 72 or 77 era Dead.
