Losing pets is the worst. If they're a good pet, you literally only have positive and happy memories associated with them. Unlike people when it can be a mixture of good/bad things.

When my ex-wife took our beloved Devon Rex, I missed the cat far more than I missed her (and still do)! That animal was more like a dog than a cat and possessed more personality than many people I know. She was my late night couch buddy.

Sorry to hear that Mitch.

At least you and your family gave him/her [?] a good life. There are so many good puppy dogs that don't get that chance.

Damn I have a great meme I made out of my dad and his pets but I hesitate to post it. He's holding up in midair his tiny, cute-as-hell chiwawa by the back of her sweater in the wintertime with a sly, goofyass grin on his face. Her legs are all spread out and she's got a great look on her face. The caption says "Just pickin' up bitches."

I use to hate chiwawas and and tiny dogs, but these pups look like young puppies eternally. And they're loving and cuddly and always excited to see me. Fuck I have a real thing for animals now.

Planning a wedding is a huge pain in the ass. That is all. Carry on.

I was young, oblivious, and let my wife and her parents handle it all, so wasn't that bad for me at the time. It will probably be a bigger pain in my ass when my 3 daughters, and maybe even when my son, get married.

Yeah, I can understand that. My fiancee is the youngest of 5, and her father passed away a few years ago....so her mom is taking the hands-off "that's nice, just let me know if you need any suggestions" route, which is good. My mother is like a goddamn bat out of hell that takes personal offense to anything we do/don't do.

When all is said and done, it's going to be really nice (and it should be, we're going to end up dropping between 17-20k, while not getting any money from parents or anyone else).....but it's such a fucking hassle dealing with different people at the venue, church (god damned Catholic church!), florist, bakery, limo company, tux rental place, wedding dress shop, honeymoon pricing/shopping and whatever else I'm forgetting right now. Add work stress on top of that and the beginning of the house-hunting process.....ugh, I keep telling myself February will be more relaxing.

My wife and I handled pretty much everything ourselves, and paid for almost all of it ourselves, so when the time came to tell her mom that we were doing it our way, it wasn't quite as hard a conversation as it could have been.

Since this is the family, I thought I would share.

My grandfather who was like a second father to me after my dad died when I was twelve passed away tonight. He taught me how to shave, helped me with my first car and gave me great life advice.

I couldn't help but put on Grace is Gone. DMB's music (and Dave's lyrics) helped me through the first part of my life after loosing my dad and now it's helping me again. I'm so glad Dave was able to lay down his troubles and sorrows throughout his career so that it could help others when needed. Music is a powerful thing. And damnit, Roi at the end of Bartender! Good stuff.

Anyway, drinking some scotch in honor of my grandfather.
