Just to be clear, before I vote, when you say "10 being the best", is that best DMB album? Best amongst all albums? Or best as in as good as blowjobs and pepperoni pizza??

The best it could be as an album, up against all other albums. I'd say 'as a whole, rate this album, 1-10.'

A beej and a pizza would probably get an 7-8 from me, because....heartburn. Give me tacos mexicanos and sex any day of the week.

I voted 9. It's the album that turned me onto DMB back in '94 and still my favorite.

I voted 9 as well, only because the 10 ranking is reserved for BTCS.

UTTAD still brings a huge smile to my face when it comes up in rotation in the car. I NEVER feel inclined to skip a song and the production is just perfect.

Take me back to those days, please!

9 for me as well. I kind of don’t feel like that number really needs defending.

I voted 8, but I think I might actually put it at a 7. Let's say 7.5.

I like all of the songs on it, and they're all great studio recordings, but as an *album* I have really hard time saying it's on par with true masterpieces like Dark Side, OK Computer, etc.

I also have an incredibly hard time rating things and choose to avoid it 99% of the time. This post is the 1%.

You'd think. Those things are the only thing that don't kill me anymore! Bizarre.

I rounded up to 9 from an 8.5.

Ive always been impressed that as their first commercial album, they really presented themselves as they were. They didnt go commercial and cut down on the sax and violin solos.

They sort of just said this is who we are and what we do.

So I am a firm 7.25 so this one gets a round down. It was THE album that got me into DMB when I was a kid, my parents bought the cassette for me and I spun that damn things spools out.

But over the years it’s faded into mostly nostalgia and a few of the songs I either vastly prefer live or find grating to hear (looking at you Jimi) which kind of colors it. I hadn’t listened to it for years, got the vinyl when it came out, spun it once and didn’t feel like going back to it again.

Getting a great producer who not only understood and respected who they were, but was excited about it helped a lot.

It's a 9 for me. I remember the excitement of DMB getting their first time big record release and was a really exciting time. The album is really good and the songs are great on it, the sound of UTTAD captured who this band is so well.

I still consistently listen to Bowa, Satellite, LLD, Warehouse, Pay For, and 34 from this album when I want to listen to some DMB.

Not Ants? The studio Ants is so well done and such a great single from them that captured this band.

I know everyone hates it now, but you should give the studio Jimi another listen sometime. It’s really an incredible recording.
