So I listened to American Beauty for the first time the other day. I must admit. It was a good listen.

Listen to Workingman’s Dead next. I prefer it to AB by a little bit.

Good news for you. They just announced 3 nights in Port Chester (Capitol theatre) in January.

That's a venue I'd like to check out some day.

I love the Cap!

Which band are you talking about, though? (JRAD or Shred)

If anybody wants DeadBase 50 Hardcover, [Only registered users can see links.] and use the Promo Code DB50DSO50 and get it for 50% off ($45 instead of $90)

Dude, if you don't have one, I highly recommend it. I have Deadbase X, which came out in mid-late 90's and love it. Yeah, when I got it, the internet wasn't what it is now, but it's still great. I never went for DB50 b/c I have the 10, but with this 50% off, I said fuck it and got one yesterday.

Also, if anyone is interested in a well-worn used Deadbase X hardcover, let me know

I have the original of that one too (and I think the only difference b/w the 2 is the cover; the newer DeadBase has more content- including GarciaBase!)

DO it!

Hey Mitch. As an update to our chat the other day, I was able to listen to Workingman's Dead and I really enjoyed the album. Thanks for the suggestion. Any other good studio recommendations? Thanks!

With my usual caveat that the studio albums are not what the Dead is about (and my preference to recommend live albums), the other Studio albums I"d tell you to check out next are Wake of the Flood and In the Dark.

Ok, I’ll listen to both of these albums next. Thanks! I know their live music is what they are known for, but I’m weird in that it’s easier for me to understand the songs and music on the studio albums first. Then I can better understand the live interpretations. That’s how I did it with DMB back in the mid-90s. Listened to UTTAD and crash first and then Red Rocks and Luther. I hope this explanation makes sense.

Whatever works for you. buddy. And if that's the case, you might as well listen to some of the other albums too.
