Holy shit, I'm currently on the most useless conference call of all time at work. It's part of our organization's bi-weekly staff meeting and they've invited a representative from our 'Healthy Life Center'/gym to lead people in stretches, etc to help people de-stress and feel better. Problem is, half of my team calls in from other sites/areas of the country, we're literally sitting on a call listening to some fruit talk people in our home office through office calesthenics.

I am In the final stages of getting this other job I spoke of earlier; everything went really well this morning They even sent me home with keys and access cards. I think the last meeting is a formality

Ever walk into work and realize you have the driest brain, the most common sense, the best logic, and a bunch of legally retarded people "running" your department (into the ground)? If I actually took the time to explain to you folks how these people react to problems and "direct" their department, you still wouldn't know what color the shay's lounge should be in the parlor of Zeus' champagne room!!

Confused? So is EVERYONE who is wondering what in the fucking hell is going on in my department. Absolutely. Fucking. Baffling.

Has anyone ever given a performance review and all the worker does is fight back and show a total lack of emotional maturity? If I acted like this I would be scared of coming into work the following day or at least extremely apologetic for my actions.

Some people don't have any sort of maturity....baffles me how those people remain employed.

Ok i've been snowed in for 2 days, planned on putting in my 2 weeks yesterday, and a tad bit drunk but...

I work for Xerox. Xerox learned a few years ago that copy machines really aren't the future and started a customer service division. Xerox runs call centers for other companies. Just in Lexington they run call centers for Metlife, Sprint, Liberty Mutual, and Apple.

I work as a representative for the Metlife Tricare Dental Program. Tricare is the benefits program for the United States Military. There are 3 divisions of Tricare Dental. United Concorida is the dental insurance for active duty soldiers. Metlife is the dental insurance for the families of active duty soldiers, reserve members, and national guard members. Delta Dental handles soldiers that have retired with benefits and their families.

I'm as liberal as they come and am opposed to pretty much all war. The last war that the USA was involved with that was actually necessary was World War 2.

But I really think that anyone that has volunteered to fight for the USA, for our freedom, should be treated better than anyone else. Any random soldier in the military deserves better treatment than me.

But Metlife and Xerox disagree.

This company treats our fighting men and women like shit. We use a billing program that is so fucking archaic that any random high school student that likes coding could design a better program. I literally take 5+ calls a day from people who get $900+ bills and I have to tell them "oh sorry, you're plan is still active but we never bothered billing you since 11/2013. If you don't pay that $900 right now we are going to cancel all of your families claims and you will owe us $5000+"

and i lost my train of thought. Fuck Xerox and Metlife

oh shit I just remembered. All of Tricare Dental used to be run by United Concordia. On 5/1/2012 all of the current plans came into effect. Everyone that voluntarily enrolled with United Concorida were supposed to be automatically enrolled with Metlife. But there were a handful of people that were not. By no fault of their own. All because of a government glitch.

I got a call from a woman who enrolled into the plan in November of 2012. According to the plan details she 'should' have been enrolled with Metlife in May of 2012. She wasn't for unknown reasons. Her and her family enrolled in November and were enrolled until June of 2013 at which point they decided to voluntarily cancel their coverage.

at some point in 2014 someone at Metlife looked at their account and said "OMG these people were supposed to be enrolled 5/1/2012! Lets make their coverage start then!" and then changed their effective date to 5/1/2012. Then put into our billing program "Oh hey remember all those premiums you started paying in 11/2012? Yeah those were for 5/2012 onward!"

So a family that enrolled for 11/2012 was suddenly and randomly enrolled for 5/2012. They were magically only paid through 11/2012. Which means that any claim after 11/2012 was considered overpaid. When that happens Metlife will not pay out any claims until the overpaid claims were recouped. For anyone in the family. Ever.

Well the policy holder of this plan called in understandably upset after receiving a letter saying almost every claim their family had ever sent in was retroactively declined because Metlife decided to change their effective and end dates with no discussion with the policy holder. I obviously agreed with the policy holder that this was total bullshit and sent an email to our billing department asking them to reconsider..

Response?

"no sorry they should have been effective 5/1/2012! In order to correct all of their claims they have to pay all premiums from 10/2012 through now. The amount is $1900"

FUCK

Fuck that, shouldn't they know they weren't paying premiums since late 2013? People aren't innocent in that scenario, military or not.

I have no sympathy for people who aren't paying. I apoligize if I worded my original post incorrectly. This wasn't a family that didn't pay. This was a family that was never enrolled in the program to begin with. They called in after realizing they were not enrolled. They were told "you're coverage begins 11/1/2012" and paid the premiums from then until they decided to disenroll.

Later Metlife decided in 2014 that they were "supposed to be enrolled" 5/1/2012 and changed all of their enrollment dates

I take 20 calls a day from people that say "Hey I pay my premium every month!" when in reality they haven't paid in a year+

Those people I have no sympathy for

The Official "Work Sucks/Complain a About Your Job" Thread

(I work in Cigna's legal dept, so I've seen it all through the years. The individual plans under ObamaCare are the worst. It's like the goddamn Wild West.)

Perhaps not the appropriate thread for this, but have been doing mostly free lance work since May looking for full-time employment. Am in the final mix for a really cool job that I want badly. So cross your fingers or whatever for me so I can contribute to this thread again soon

Fully funded. As far as states I have no idea. The information database we have usually says that since the 'tricare' plan is a 'national' plan that state laws don't apply. It doesn't say that applies to every situation, but that's the answer we usually get.
