The fun part was always in the trying!

I played "hard to get" for #'s 3 and 4. Made my wife work a little extra at it

Our house got broken into and robbed on Monday while we were at work. Took all of her earrings and a bunch of bracelet jewelry, prescription pills, my nice watch, iPad, MacBook Pro, and 2 priceless rings I had passed down from my grandfather who passed away when I was young. Just an awful feeling overall. Thankfully our pets were fine and there was no real property damage but it's hard to shake knowing somebody was there while you weren't and took valuables from you. People suck.

Jesus. That's a complete invasion of privacy for sure. Who knows what else they were doing? I'm assuming it was a 'they'. Probably a guy at least. Sorry to hear about this. Hopefully at least the heirlooms can be found.

Shit, sorry to hear this man. People do suck. I often wonder whether petty criminals realize that they can usually put equal effort into a real career and probably make more money without the risk of going to jail.

Also wanted to pop in here to say I seem to be softening as of late when it comes to my stance on family life. I’ve been thinking lately about how my cold, black, shriveled heart is starting to feel like a 2% desire to put real effort into finding a good woman to build a decent family with.*

I guess this just means I’m getting old. Thirty-four in 10 days. Thirty-four! I started posting here when I was barely out of college. Time really does fly.

*these new feelings are subject to change at a moment’s notice because I can barely commit to an apartment for more than a year, nevermind other human being(s)

What happened to that girl you were dating? Not to be a social media creep but it seemed like you guys did a lot of fun stuff together for a while

Great person but the relationship had zero spark. And most of the places you saw us going was me paying like half the trip for her because she would get super insecure at the thought of me traveling alone. Which, of course, meant I’d have to subsidize her trip (because then she would say she can’t afford to travel, which basically made me feel trapped at home unless I paid for her trip) in order to get to travel myself.

She is a really good person overall but had a lot of insecurities and weird, snoopy tendencies that finally wore me out. Like, she would notice if I became friends with people on IG and if they were female I’d be answering all sorts of questions.

I never cheated on her once, or even attempted to in any way. It was screwed up.

On top of all of that, she was a legit crazy cat lady. Like our whole weekends would be planned around staying close to her apartment to make sure her cats didn’t miss any meals. I’m not kidding. We spent the whole summer in Denver and rarely went to the mountains because she was worried about the cats getting hungry.

I finally had enough and was like “fuck this.”

Yea that's nuts. I leave my cats for like 3 days at a time with a bunch of food throughout the house and never even give it a second thought

Those insecurities would drive me insane. The best thing about my future wife, aside from her being a rockstar in her career and a big earner, is that we have a mutual feeling of security in our relationship. She never gives me grief about doing shit without her that I want to do, and vice versa. It's just so much healthier. She trusts that I'm not going out trying to fuck other girls and I feel the same with her. It's not even a thought. It's a toxic way to live being paranoid about every little thing your partner does. You have to have trust and still be able to have your own life and identity for things to stay fresh and strong. She's genuinely my best friend and I'm convinced a big part of that is there's never had a hint of jealousy from either side.
