Good top.

Actually listened to 2/11 the other day. And Luther's mix...it's still one of the finest mixes out of all the releases. That Passion Intro to Warehouse sounds like it was done in the studio. Flawless.

2/18 is still my favorite of the tour though..

I just hope the DMBLive releases stay away from the '99 and '03 D&T tours and focus on '97 and '96. I would love to see 3/7/99, but would love it even more if we could get more simplistic enjoyable stuff like Luther.

That run is my favorite but god damn does 2/19 have a '99 type crowd. It's probably the only show I would hope the crowd would be non-existent in the mix if it were released.

Just came across the 2.14.97 show that I had forgotten I had... incredible show. Can't believe how good the 96 and 97 D&T tours were!

No '99? Strange request.

from looking at rob's post, I would seem that that '96 3 show run had more set differential than the vegas run 13 years later. yikes.

amazing the amount of variety only 5-6 years into the band's existence, and the lack of it now.

Yeah, it's disheartening, though I don't really expect Dave's pot-burnt brain to retain memory of his catalog at his age. Ironically, the more songs they stuff into their repertoire, the harder it probably is to remember any individual song.

Or maybe he just doesn't have the fire and work ethic to practice.

It's tough deciding weather the D&T97 tour was better than DF&T96. Even 99 was amazing. It's a shame that the quality of the tours suffered in the last decade.

come on now, there are exceptions, but you can't really say that. 1997 had 29 shows, they averaged 16 songs a night, they played 10 songs at least 25 times. 1995 Summer Tour they closed with Ants every night but 1 and only opened with 4 songs that entire tour. Both tours were non-album tours. 1996 DMB was a little better, but not by much.

Variety the first 5 - 6 years into the band's existence is a misconception. It's a "grass is always greener" thing. In terms of the 96 vs. Vegas thing, there are perfectly good reasons. Vegas was an island, they had played for 2 1/2 weeks in 96 by that point.

That makes total sense, but I would imagine the band has written/debuted more songs since 2/20/96 than they had up until that point. I just think it is weird that that 3 night run 13 years ago had more variety. Plus, even though vegas is an island, Tim has been on the last two full tours with dmb, which obviously wasn't the case in '94 & '95. one would think that alone could lead to a bigger catalog.

I get them repeating album songs (even though I think it is ridiculous), but repeating songs like Crush, Bartender, SorL, Eh Hee, Oh, Nancies, Two Step is just weird at this point in Dave & Tim's touring career imho. They could have filled out the weekend without repeating non-BWGGK songs.

I'm sure it is just as simple as it being an island and dave not really preparing for it. His playing is quite sloppy. Had they have been preparing for a tour, or this been a 3 night'er in the middle of a tour, I think things might have been better.
