Tim wasn't overbearing at all.

I think I've listened to every show from both 96/97 and 99 and I would say they are very close but I personally enjoy the setlists more in 99. You had songs like Stone and Spoon which you didn't hear in 96. Granted, I suppose you could swap those out with Deed is Done and Minarets and call it even. I also find the Davespeak more interesting. There's also better recordings of the 99 shows (2/7/99 ftw).

tim's style throughout winter '98 with the band and 99 with dave was a bit much at times. the long jet black hair, leather, and all black get up coupled with him making outer space mating calls 90% of the time got to be over the top.

outer space mating calls = win

and no, he was not overbearing d&t 99. I don't know where you're getting that from. maybe you heard a show where his mic was turned up or something.

1997 D&T is my favorite. The recordings are much better in '99 and '03, but those '97 shows really can't be beat, IMO.

EDIT: However, 3.13.99 is definitely my favorite individual show.

The BTCS songs were great, as were the early Bartenders, but listening to the 96/97 tours, there is more of an air of spontenaity about them. And there are some soundboards out there from that tour too.

assuming you added that to the almanac?

I sent the rest of them to rob. I can send them to you if you want. There are quite a few you don't have, also all are direct scans, so in a lot of cases they are upgrades of what is already there (a pic of a stub). Plus, there are tm where you have wh, and wh you have tm. I don't know if you guys try to get both?

I see a lot of people have faded their WH member number, I have not if that is an issue.

You mean 07?

I saw D&T at Wang Theatre in 2007 front row center. Cost 1k per ticket, but was quite the experience. It was so close I could have put my feet up on the stage. Still, I hate myself for not following them to every show in the 90s. I didn't appreciate it as much back then and didn't have the money to get decent seats.

Yeah, feel free to send them to me if you want--Rob's at work, and I'm bored

Upgrades are always nice, whether it's from photo->scan, ticketmaster->warehouse, censored #s->uncensored #s, or rain-drenched->dry!

While we're talking about Tim's effects, does anyone know how he makes the digital "popping" sound on '97 Proudest Monkeys? If memory serves, he used to do it on SMTS as well.

I asked him once, and he didn't seem to know what Proudest Monkey was , but he said that if it was 1997, it must have been a wah pedal because that's all he had at the time... it doesn't sound a thing like a wah pedal to me though. Any ideas?

Here's a sendspace of 2.6.97 Proudest Monkey: [Only registered users can see links.]

(BTW, if you don't have that show, I highly recommend it, and not just because I'm a Hokie! [Only registered users can see links.] )
